Can’t Win Me Back by Ginger Sue

Chapter 1069

A horse racing event was hosted in Solana City every year. It was an event that garnered the attention of the entire nation.

Wealthy and reputable families would meet at the racecourse. On the surface level, they looked friendly with one another. In reality, they were cunning and competing with one another in secret.

Hence, this was a rare networking opportunity for the elites.

Many of the major renowned projects in Solana City, and even throughout Andgalbia, were signed at the horse racing event.

This was why many would do all they could to obtain a ticket to the horse race. It was so that they could move up the ranks and achieve great success.

Ever since that day when Javier forbade Betty's attendance, she became ill from her rage. Ulcers broke out in her mouth, and she could barely eat anything due to the pain.

During the night, her anger would also wake her up from her sleep.

All she did was reprimand a few helpers. She couldn't understand why Javier wanted to punish her in this way. Not only that, he even backed Lauren up!

She used to be a troublemaker at home, but he had never rebuked her.

Could it be that she was also suffering the consequences by association? Sophia lost his favor, and she was also suffering in tow?

It was no surprise that men were such a heartless breed!

Right now, she could only quietly wish for Landon to be a player. She hoped he would take advantage of Lauren and discard her like trash once he was done playing with her.

When that time came, she wanted to make a public declaration in their circles to inform everyone that Lauren was a whore who Landon played!

She would wait and see who would still want to marry that stupid bitch! She wanted her reputation to be ruined.

Just as she was relishing in her thoughts, a knock came from the door.

"Ms. Betty, Madam Sophia asked for you."

Betty went to meet Sophia with a resentful look on her face.

"I'm here, Mom."

She caught a whiff of a strange scent the moment she stepped through the door. It was revolting.

"What are you doing, Mom? What is that smell?"

Betty walked toward the bedroom while she pinched her nose and furrowed her brows.

She pushed open the door, which was unlocked, and was
immediately stumped in horror.

Sophia was wearing crumpled-up pajamas and kneeling on the floor with her hair all over her face. She frantically wiped a pool of yellow water stains on the floor using a towel.

Betty's eyes widened. She stuttered, "Mom ... You're ..."

It was only then that Sophia realized that she had entered the room. Her face flushed red in surprise, and she shouted fiercely, "Who told you that you could come in? Don't you know how to knock?"

"Mom, you were the one who asked for me..."

Betty stared at the stained spot. Then, she had a sudden realization and covered her mouth with her hands.

"Mom! You ... Don't tell me you have ..." she asked dumbfoundedly.

She was about to blurt out the term "incontinence" when Sophia interrupted her in her loud voice, Shut up! Don't you dare mention a single word of what shouldn't be said. Do you hear me?"

Betty nodded vigorously.

How would she dare to say a word? If she did, Sophia would become the laughingstock of Solana City! And, she herself would be embarrassed as well!

Sophia threw the dirty towel into the trash can, then ran into the toilet and couldn't stop scrubbing her hands.

She could still smell the disgusting stench, no matter how she washed her hands.

Betty rushed over. With an anxious gaze, she exclaimed, "Mom, you can't take that medicine anymore!

"What's the difference between taking that medication and doing drugs? It's obvious that Tristan is trying to harm you! Look at your condition! If you go on like that... your body won't be able to take it!

"You've tried every trick in the book to garner Dad's favor.

Moreover, you've strategized for so many years to fight against Jasper.

"If you were to ruin your health, there wouldn't be any hope left for you! All that you have done in the past would've been for nothing!"

It wasn't a common occurrence to hear such sensible words from Betty. It was clear that she was really panicking.

Sophia shut her eyes and took a deep breath. She responded, "I know ... I do want to give it up, but I just can't!"
