Chapter 206
“Jasper did not even inform us when he decided on the divorce. Of course, he wouldn’t tell me his
intention to call off the marriage!”
“Those are different things!” Sophia’s voice was shrill, unlike her usual comforting tone. “Jasper
does not love Alyssa Taylor at all. Unlike Alyssa, Lia is Jasper’s childhood sweetheart. They have a
deep bond!” 1
“Right. That’s beyond me too. If they share a deep bond, what else did Liana want from him? Why
couldn’t she behave instead of stirring trouble with Ms. Alyssa?
“She has humiliated our family with the infidelity drama in front of Dad. I will not help her this
time, and I can’t guarantee whether the marriage will happen!”
His chest tightened when he recalled Newton’s taunt. “I wouldn’t have advised Jasper to seek
divorce if I had known better. Liana is not the right match for our family; worse, she’s a
troublemaker. It’s indeed hard to get along with those from different backgrounds!”
Sophia’s shoulders slumped when she realized that Javier wanted nothing to do with the mess.
She felt as though she was slowly losing what she had been pursuing.
“Aunt Sophia, what do I do?” Liana’s eyes were swollen from all the crying as she panted between
sobs.
“Hahaha! You deserved it!” Betty perked up and clapped gleefully. “It’s your karma for using me
and manipulating me! You’re a selfish woman who should never dream of marrying Jasper!” 2
“When did I use and manipulate you?” Wiping her tears away, Liana refuted, “I couldn’t handle the sheer number of quests on
my own, so I asked for your help to ensure my plan succeeded on the first try. I never told you to do anything to Mr. Harper–it
was you who spiked his drink and made a
mess!”
“How dare you pin the blame on me? You shameless bitch! I should have seen you for who
you are!
I’m going to fucking rip that mouth of yours!”

“On the count of three, let go of the hair! One, two, three!”
Finally, the two belligerent ladies let go of each other.
“Betty, you leave. I need to talk with Lia.” Sophia frowned.
“Mom, it was Liana who tricked me! I wouldn’t have embarrassed myself had she not tricked me!”
Looking funny in her messy hair, Betty insisted on her victimhood.
“Don’t you
think you are to be blamed? I’ve warned you many times not to jump the gun on Mr.
Harper! You threw yourself at him, hoping that he’d take responsibility for sleeping with you.
“That’s not the behavior of a young lady from a distinguished family. He will only look down on
you. Now, get back to your room and reflect on your behavior!”
Betty, who had always feared her mom, glared at Liana before leaving. Liana froze on the ground,
grappling the hem of her crumpled skirt as a chill traveled down her spine.
Sophia was right. The daughter of a distinguished family would never act in such a tasteless
manner. However, Liana felt she had no choice.
Betty had Sophia to help her out, but Liana always had to fight for what she wanted. After all, she
was nothing to Sophia except a pawn to keep Jasper under control.
“Aunt Sophia, about tonight...”
Eyes wide in anger, Sophia slapped Liana across the face without a word.
