Can’t Win Me Back by Ginger Sue

Chapter 297
Cyrus Taylor was the youngest son in the family. He had decided on a career in the police force to uphold justice.
His childhood ambition came true as he was now chief of the First Criminal Investigation Division in the Solana City Police
Department.
“Yeah! Fuck him up badly!” Silas wasinfluenced by Cyrus’ passion and punched against the window. “Can’t the police spice up
the interrogation? We prosecutors aren’t allowed to do so. Don’t miss your chance to take revenge for Lyse! 11
Jonah was speechless at the exchange. The daughters of the Taylor family were regal and dainty, but the sons were thuggish
and belligerent, even more so than himself, who had been involved in the underground gangs.
When the three invincible sons of the Taylor family joined hands, their target had no way out.

Jasper rushed to the hospital to visit Newton. Landon was worried for him and insisted on tagging along.
Jasper sped to the hospital and parked his sports car at the entrance before sprinting into the hospital without care. Newton was
his only tie to the Beckett family.
Only Newton loved and cared for him, treating him like a grandson.
“Grandpa!Grandpa!” Rushing toward thedestination, Jasper repeatedly called out to Newton in a hoarse voice.
When he dashed into the corridor, panting heavily, he found Alyssa hugging a sleeping Lauren on the bench. The scene was as
tranquil as something out of an oil painting. 1
She looked down and gently cuddled the girl in her arms. She had a peaceful look on her face, radiating grace and virtue.
Her petite frame was house to an indestructi ble force. She always showed up like an angel to help those in need.
Jasper was overcome by a wave of bitterness and remorse. He felt thankful that she was around to hold the fort.
Alyss a looked up and stared into Jasper’s eyes when she heard the footsteps.

He momentarily fell for the confused and gentle look in her eyes. Sadly, the moment did not last long. She put on a steely
expression after she recognized him.
“Has Ms. Gardner’s birthday party ended? Is it okay for you to leave the mess behind and visit the hospital?”
Alyssa did not chastise him at all, but he felt terribly ashamed and exposed upon hearing her words.
He went up to her with regret in his eyes. She stared at the g round with a strong aversion, fervently wishing to shut him out.
“Grandpa’s asleep. Mr. Gorham is takingcare of him in the room. You can wait for him out here because he needs his rest,”Alyss
a said.
“Alyssa, I’m sorry,”Jasper croaked as hestruggled to contain his emotions.
“What? Sorry to me?” A snicker appearedon her lips.”You should feel sorry for your grandpa, who has narrowly escaped death.
Why did you apologize to me when we have nothing to do with each other?
“Grandpa cares for you a lot, so I hopeyou’ll make more time for him. You got lucky because I was at his place tonight. What if I
wasn’t there the next time he had a stroke?
“Luck will not always favor Grandpa. TheGrim Reaper will not spare him every time.
11
Feeling a heartache rising in her chest, she took a deep breath with misty eyes.”I regret he’s not my real grandfather. I feel bad
that I can’t stay by his side all the time. I wish I could bring him everywhere and care for him at all times.”
“Alyssa ...”Jasper swallowed hard. Full ofbitterness, he struggled to come up with a reply. His apology was worthless to her.
“Jasper!”Landon hurried over all of asudden. He cast a complicated look at Alyssa before addressing Jasper sternly,”Come with
me! I have something to tell you!”
