Can’t Win Me Back by Ginger Sue

Chapter 621
After a brief pause, Jonah lowered his voice and cautioned, “You know, Jameson Schmidt is even more calculating then we
initially thought. What we’ve uncovered so far is just the tip of the iceberg.
Consider this: he returned from Kontina after a 15-year absence and suddenly became close to you. You’re a Taylor, and we’re
entrusting KS Group to you.
“You’re a princess, a queen. Ifyou were more high-profile, you would have been the most eligible
bachelorette in Cyrris.
“I can’t shake the feeling that Jameson might have ulterior motives-I don’t trust him.”
He furrowed his brow and continued, “I know this might sound harsh, but, to me, Jameson is even worse
than Jasper.”
“Jonah!” Alyssa exclaimed, gripping her cup tightly as her heart raced.
Jonah remarked, “At least Jasper is honest with the woman he loves.”
Alyssa tightened her grip, her eyes welling up with tears. She retorted, “You’re right. He was so devoted to Liana Gardner that he
enlisted in the military and went to war after she broke up with him!”
“But isn’t it true that he risked his life for you? He’s still dealing with the repercussions of those old
injuries. I’m concerned there might be long-term effects.”
Alyssa grew more and more anxious. Her eyes darkened. She refuted, “That’s a different thing altogether.”
“Lyse, you weren’t blind when you fell for him. He was brutally honest about the fact that he didn’t love you,” Jonah explained
with a sigh.
He leaned forward and grasped her cold hand. “At the very least, Jasper has never lied to you. I don’t care about other flaws, but
your partner shouldn’t be dishonest with you.”
Her eyes wavered, and she hung her head silently.

After bidding farewell to the Taylors, Alyssa and Sean returned to Solana City. As they neared the freeway, Alyssa suddenly
suggested, “Let’s make a detour to Seaview Manor.”
Sean wore a slight frown but, agreed. “Sure.”
Upon their arrival at the manor, Alyssa decided to call Rosie instead of Jasper.

Rosie answered with concern, “Madam, I won’t lie to you. Mr. Beckett hasn’t been home for a few days.
I’ve tried calling him, but he seldom picks up. He sounds weak yet insists everything is fine when I ask.
Alyssa’s chest tightened as if something had clamped down on it.
Rosie went on, “I knew him well because I raised him. He’s the type who doesn’t like to worry others. He always keeps to himself
when he’s sick or in trouble, and he refuses to tell me, no matter how many times
I ask.
*Madam, can you get in touch with him? I’m so worried for him!” Rosie sounded like she was about to cry.
“Mrs. Rosie, don’t panic. I’ll find him,” Alyssa gently comforted her. Even if Jasper refused to meet
everyone, she believed he would never turn her down.
Following the call, Alyssa pondered and decided to contact Xavier. She began, “Hello, Mr. Hall.”
“M-Ms. Alyssa! Good evening. Xavier replied with a hint of panic in his voice, a stark contrast from his usual warm demeanor.
She was sure that he had something to hide.
“Where’s Mr. Beckett? He’s not at home, so where did he go?” Alyssa impatiently interrogated Xavier with
a frown.
“M-Mr. Beckett is on a business trip,” Xavier explained.
“Xavier Hall, if you lie to me, there will be consequences,” Alyssa warned him in an intimidating tone.

“Madam, I’ll tell you everything, even if Mr. Beckett fires me for it,” Xavier finally confessed with a teary
voice.
“Please check on him now. He’s in a poor state. I fear something terrible might happen to him!”
