Can’t Win Me Back by Ginger Sue

Chapter 91

Everyone was shocked when they heard the statement.

Betty and her friends dropped their jaws in astonishment as well.

Sean showed the necklace to Betty. A cold expression was apparent on his handsome face.

"Ms. Beckett, take a look at this necklace. Is it the one you lost?"

"W-Well..."

Betty accepted the necklace and studied it. Then, she started shrieking at the top of her lungs. "Ah! My poor necklace! What happened to it? Who ruined my necklace?"

Everyone stared at the necklace. Soon, they realized that the necklace was broken into a few segments.

"Our manager ordered us to search every inch of the presidential suite the moment she received news of your missing necklace. In the end, we found it under the couch.

"The thing is, your necklace was already ruined when we found it. We don't know what happened to it as well," Sean explained coolly.

"See? I told you she's just causing a fuss over nothing! She didn't remember where she had left the damn thing! That's why she was just blaming the hotel! She thinks she's always right just because she's a guest here?"

"Oh my god, those are some chunky diamonds! Who'd wear such a precious necklace in public? Is she trying to attract the thieves' attention?"

Betty's expression darkened when she heard the crowd's mocking words. She exclaimed, "So what if you found the necklace? You can't prove that your employee didn't steal from me!

"She must have known that she couldn't hide the necklace elsewhere! That's why she hid it under the couch. She could secretly sell it once we're gone!"

"No! I did no such thing!"

The housekeeper didn't know how to fight back. She found it difficult to breathe at that moment, let alone defend herself.

"If she truly meant to steal the necklace, why would she ruin it in the first place? Sneaking a necklace out of the hotel is a very easy thing to do."

Alyssa's gaze turned icy. "I think someone did this to your necklace on purpose. They didn't intend to steal your necklace. Instead, they were just venting their frustrations on it. It's as though they were jealous of you."

Betty looked dazed upon hearing Alyssa's theory. Her friends were stunned as well.

"My staff was able to find your necklace for you. So it means my employee's name is cleared. If you wish to continue investigating this incident, I don't mind cooperating with you."

Alyssa turned her sharp gaze to the women behind Betty as she spoke.

"My secretary was careful not to touch the necklace when he found it earlier. The police will be here soon. You can entrust it to them and have them check it for fingerprints. Your diamonds are quite big, so dusting for prints should be easy."

"She's right! The police can dust the necklace for fingerprints!" "That's a great idea! The police should do that!"

The crowd started agreeing with Alyssa.

Meanwhile, Betty's friends paled immediately. They tugged on Betty's sleeves while saying, "That's enough, Betty. It's humiliating for an heiress like you to keep causing trouble here. We should leave."

Betty didn't want to listen to the crowd's jeers. She hurriedly stuffed the broken necklace into her Hermès bag. Then, she turned to leave with her chest puffed out.

"Hold on, Ms. Beckett," Alyssa called out to her in a cold voice.

"What is it this time? You're being annoying!"

"We've found your necklace. You don't have any proof that our employee was the one who stole it in the first place. Yet you humiliated her in front of everyone. Don't you think you should take responsibility?"

"Responsibility? Hah! I'm a guest here! How dare you demand me to take responsibility after providing such shitty service! Are you crazy?" Betty retorted angrily.

"How could she act like that? Is she really the daughter of the Beckett family?" The other guests started complaining about Betty to each other.

"That poor housekeeper was extremely apologetic about what happened just now! What the hell does that Beckett woman want?"

"I know, right? I never expected the Beckett heiress to be this stingy and petty!"

The housekeeper could only stay rooted to her spot while sobbing quietly.

"You may lodge a formal complaint regarding my employee if their performance isn't up to your standards. You accusing her of stealing your necklace is a completely different matter. Shouldn't you apologize to my employee at the very least?"

Alyssa's expression was cold and unrelenting.

"You want me to apologize to that woman? I came here to spend money in your establishment. Yet you dare to tell me to apologize to a mere housekeeper! And you even call yourself a manager!"

Betty was about to throw another tantrum when everyone heard a loud thud.

Unexpectedly, the housekeeper had already collapsed to the floor. Her body was stiff, and she rolled her eyes upward. At the same time, she started trembling violently.

Everyone was shocked by what they had seen. Alyssa quickly reacted by kneeling next to the shuddering housekeeper on one knee.

She quickly undid the housekeeper's belt and vest to make sure the housekeeper could breathe well.

At that moment, the housekeeper started foaming at the mouth. "She's having a seizure! Sean, call the ambulance!"

Alyssa gave the order right away while tilting the housekeeper's head to the side. That way, she wouldn't be able to choke on her saliva and foam.

"I've already called the ambulance. The paramedics are on their way right now."

A deep and rich voice sounded from behind Alyssa.

She turned around sharply to see Jasper standing behind her. He looked very handsome in his suit, which attracted everyone's attention soon enough.
