Cultivating Disciples to Breakthrough

"He just left without taking the stone away..." Muttering this to himself as he looked in the direction that Xuan Hao had left in, Lu Wen could not help feeling shocked that he had managed to keep the mysterious stone. Especially considering that he was certain that it was related to some sort of precious treasure due to how Elder Xuan had warned him to keep it secret before leaving. Making him even more confused as to why he had been able to keep the small stone capable of teleporting him to the floating island.

The elders from the Star Shattering Sect are really different when compared to the elders from any of the other sects I was thinking about entering in the past…

Thinking about this as he came to terms with everything that had just happened, Lu Wen could not help feeling happy that he had chosen to enter the Star Shattering Sect instead of going to any of the other sects that had been located closer to him back when he went out to search for a sect to join.

Back then, the only reason why he had chosen to make the long journey to the Star Shattering Sect from where he lived, was because he had been lucky enough to encounter a group of young people on their way to the Star Shattering Sect after having heard rumors about the sect having a legendary existence above the Nascent Soul presiding over it.

If not for this information convincing him to follow them to the Star Shattering Sect, he would have most likely never have entered the sect and would instead have ended up in one of the smaller sects that were now under the influence of the Star Shattering Sect!

Shaking his head as memories of the past began appearing, Lu Wen decided not to think too much about as he chatted a bit with Yi Xuan about what they had experienced before making his way back towards his courtyard. Keeping the words that Elder Xuan had told him about not telling anyone else about the small stone in the back of his head.

"Ahm! As all of you already know, with the new Domain Lord Realm Expert joining the sect, it is almost certain that Elder Song is going to speed up the process of the sect's expansion over the next few years and he might even start to set his sight on those larger kingdoms that we have mostly decided to ignore for now because of the weird technique allowing them to forcefully breakthrough the Domain Lord Realm for a short time.

The reason why I called everyone here is for us to find out who among us are going to be leaving the sect to take up the task of protecting the new territory of the sect, as we all know that none of us really want to leave due to the cultivation environment inside the main sect…"

As Lu Wen and Yi Xuan were making their way back to their respective courtyards after parting ways, a large number of both outer sect elders and normal sect elder had gathered together in a small pavilion in the outskirts of the sects.

The weakest among them being the outer sect elder at the Peak of the Core Formation Realm, while the strongest was the old elder from the Half-Spirit at the Peak of the Nascent Soul Realm, who had also been the person to take the lead and speak up just now.

"Senior, I understand this, but how are we going to figure out who can stay and who will have to leave the sect to ensure the safety and stability of the new territory of the sect?" Stepping forward with a doubtful expression on his face, one of the outer sect elders could not help asking this.

Fearful that the former grand elder of the half spirit race would propose something like them fighting it out with each other. Understanding very well that if something like that happened, his chances of being able to stay back at the sect and focus all of his attention towards breaking through to the Nascent Soul Realm would be gone. After all, among the elders currently present, he was by far one of the weakest, even among the other outer sect elders in the Core Formation Realm…

"""…"""

Hearing what the outer sect elder said, the rest of the outer sect elders could not help showing a similar nervous expression. All of them realizing that their chances of being able to stay in the sect would not be much better if the matter ended up being decided by combat.

"Haaa… you people… Have you forgotten that all of you are only in the Core Formation Realm? Other than managing one of the branch sects, you won't be able to protect the sect's territory with your current strength!"

Seeing the nervous expressions that had appeared on the faces of all the outer sect elders present, one of the Nascent Soul Realm sect elders could not help rolling his eyes as he said this.

"Ah…!"

"That is true…"

"…"

Hearing what the sect elder said, the outer sect elders who had all been nervously looking towards the former grand elder of the half spirit race, could not help blushing in embarrassment after being called out for being too weak.

Even if what the sect elder had said was true and they were far too weak to stabilize the new territory of the Star Shattering Sect, the outer sect elders could not help feeling even more motivated to reach the Nascent Soul Realm and become a core part of the sect's strength. Not willing to remain as outer sect elders for the rest of their lives!

"Well… Now that everyone seems to have calmed down again, I was planning for us to find out who will be leaving the sect through a simple game of chance in the shape of a simple roll of the dice or something similar."  Not wanting things to drag on for too long, the former grand elder of the half spirit race once again stepped forward and gave his suggestion on how he had planned for them to find out who was going to be the ones to leave the sect.

"Ha? A game of chance? A roll of a dice?"

"You want us to decide something this important through something like that!?"

"This is… Not what I expected…"

Hearing what the former grand elder of the half spirit race said, the elders present all had different reactions. Even then, the most widespread reaction was still one of surprise over just how unexpected the solution given by the former grand elder of the half spirit race was…

Out of everything that they had thought about, be a small-scale tournament between different elders of similar cultivation realm to everyone giving their own reason for why they should stay in the sect while the rest would vote for whether or not it was a more valid reason than the others. None of the elders present had expected the suggestion to be something simple like a game of chance.

On the other hand, this way, everything would be up to fate and none of them would have any sort of advantage over the other.

As the elders all slowly came to this realization, they understood that the suggestion given by the former grand elder of the half spirit race might be the best way to solve this problem. Especially when considering that the time available to them before Elder Song showed up was limited.

All of them having a clear understanding of just how fast the old man acted when he first decided on something. Even them having a few more hours would be surprising, let alone enough time to hold a tournament or something similar that would take a long time.

"I think we should go with a simple dice throw, this way we can solve this quickly and won't have to worry about Elder Song showing up while we are still trying to figure out who is going to stay and who is going to leave…"

"Indeed, I also think it's a good idea, we can also ensure that no one is cheating with all of us keeping an eye on the dice."

"Haha, looks like we have all come to an agreement! What are we waiting for, let's roll a dice and find out who is lucky and who is unlucky!"

Realizing this, it did not take long before some of the elders took out a few different dices and began the process of rolling them to find out who would stay inside the sect and who was going to be stationed somewhere outside to stabilize the new territory of the sect. The rules of the game being rather simple, the one rolling the highest won, while the one rolling the lowest lost.
