Impatiently, Shane hung up the phone. He was well aware of the sect’s rules, but he had truly earned his position in the company
through his own merit. No one had assisted him in achieving it.
In this society, capability was everything. Take Frederick, for example. He was highly educated, taller, and even slightly more

“Hey, who put their breakfast on my desk?” Shane sat at his desk and found an extra breakfast on it. Unlike the
inexpensive breakfast Lola and the others usually brought, this was a luxurious and nutritious meal!
“Shane, that’s from Ms. Pennington. She said it’s her way of saying thank you!” Lola told him with a wink.
Shane felt somewhat flattered. Isn’t Ms. Pennington being too kind to me? A luxurious and nutritious meal just for letting her take
the taxi?
“Haha! Thanks. I’m really flattered,” Shane said modestly, but he quickly devoured the meal.
However, recalling Santiago’s reminder, he felt that he owed Ms. Pennington a huge favor. “I have to repay her!” He
sighed, worrying about how to repay the favor, when he noticed that Ms. Pennington had been in a meeting with Henry all day
and hadn’t even had lunch.
When Lauren finally emerged from Henry’s office at 2 p.m., she was famished.
Just then, Shane handed her a sumptuous lunch.
Lauren was stunned. She had already ordered lunch. What was Shane doing?

Before Lauren could say anything, Shane quickly left to avoid owing another favor, lest he had to repay it later.
He thought that would be the end of it, but an hour later, Lauren suddenly called a department meeting, which he also attended.
During the meeting, Lauren publicly announced, “Our company has issued a task. We need to negotiate a major project with
Diamond Titan Military Technologies. If we succeed, the person in charge can receive a commission
of 1 million, along with a job promotion and pay raise.”
