Chapter 1207
"The child is fine for now. But, they found some drugs in Ms. Garcia's system, and there’s still a risk of miscarriage. The doctor
said they’ll do their best to ensure that she and the baby are safe," Keegan withdrew his gaze and said in disdain.
Albert was taken aback. "Drugs? What kind of drugs?"
Stella casually glanced at Hylda. As expected, her face turned paler upon hearing about the medicine.
Keegan did not hold back. "Abortion pills," he said.
"Abortion pills?!’’ Albert's heart trembled. "Wasn't it the fall that caused her to bleed?"
"I'm not too sure about the details. Maybe you should ask the doctor," Keegan replied. He knew that some things were better left
unsaid to avoid suspicion.
Not long after, Xenia's attending doctor arrived and explained her condition to Albert. The more Albert listened to what the doctor
said, the darker his expression became. "We've asked Ms. Garcia about the pills, and she insisted that she didn't take any.
However, she mentioned that she had a glass of juice at the wedding that tasted strange. She thought it was just that it had gone
bad, so she didn't drink much of it. As a result, it did not cause any serious complications."
After a brief pause, the doctor added, "Mr. Jewell, if the drugs were administered during the wedding, I suggest Mrs. Jewell
should get a blood test as well. It's possible that her miscarriage was caused by the pills."
Hylda realized that Xenia wanted to pin the blame on her, and she quickly retorted, "There are two types of abortion pills,
Mifepristone and
Misoprostol. The former terminates pregnancy from within, while the latter induces contractions to expel the embryo from the
body. There's no way someone could've drugged her with those on the same day she nearly had a miscarriage."
The doctor was taken aback and said, "I never specified the type of drugs found in Ms. Garcia's system, Mrs. Jewell. Why are
you so certain that it's one of the two you mentioned?"
Hylda, who was caught off guard, replied, "Aren't those two the most common ones in the market?"
"Mrs. Jewell, I think the most important thing now is to find out whether you have been drugged. Don't you care about finding out
what happened to your child?" said Olivia.
Hylda's abnormal reaction raised strong suspicions in Albert's mind. Her fear of checking the surveillance footage, her aversion
to getting a blood test, and her fall from the gazebo all pointed to her wanting to get rid of the child.
"Isn't having a child later in life supposed to be a joyous occasion? Why does she seem so indifferent? It's not like she was
pregnant with someone else's child," Felicity muttered.
This statement struck a chord in Albert's mind. 'Hylda had no reason to reject the child, especially after learning that Xenia was
also pregnant.
She's a smart woman. She must've known that having another child meant that she would get a larger share of the family's
wealth. Yet, she still didn't want the child. The only possible reason for that is the child was not mine.’
Hylda's heart sank upon hearing that. Sophia pointed at Felicity and yelled," What kind of nonsense are you on about, you
moron?!"
Felicity's eyelids twitched as she yelled back, "You know I'm right, bitch!"
She was about to roll up her sleeves and teach Sophia a lesson, but Vermont hugged her from behind and pulled her away.
"Let's stay focused on the situation and not cause any trouble," he said.
Felicity kicked her feet in protest and complained, "That bitch literally called me a moron when she looks dumb as hell."
She pounded Vermont's shoulder as she continued, "Can you be more like Keegan? He couldn't wait to tear Sophia apart when
she disrespected Stella. Yet, here you are, pulling me away while she's calling me names. You're my boyfriend. Shouldn’t you be
on my side?"
Vermont put his arm around her shoulder and said, "Don't worry. I'll avenge you."
Meanwhile, in the hospital room, Albert had already figured out everything.
He stared at Hylda with a tense face and asked, "Whose baby was that?"
