Chapter 1379
Felicity glanced at him and said, "I’ll go back to my room if you want to use the living room."
Vermont was taken aback. Then, he said, "Why do you think like that? I was just worried about your health since you've been
staying up late to work on the script."
He sat down next to her, as he spoke with a bag of freshly roasted pork knuckle in his hand. The aroma wafted toward Felicity,
and her initially tense mood immediately relaxed a little.
'Well, he's not that bad after all. I'm glad that he brought me some midnight snack.'
Felicity scoffed and said, "Staying up late for work is just part of my job. I'm not some big boss like you who can just stay in your
comfort zone and still make money."
Vermont chuckled. "I fought hard for the comfort zone I have now. Everyone worked hard when they were young. We have to put
in the effort when it's time to do so."
He spoke, as he took out a pair of disposable gloves.
Felicity thought that he would hand them to her as usual.
She even reached out to take them, but he put them in his own hand instead. He unwrapped the packaging and started eating
the pork knuckle on his own.
Felicity was speechless.
Vermont took a bite. Then, he turned to Felicity and asked," The smell is not that strong, right? Is it bothering you?"
Felicity felt frustrated and responded in a stiff tone, "No! I'm not hungry anyway!"
Vermont paused. 'Are you sure? I ordered two portions of roasted pork belly for you. They're still in the aluminum foil."
Felicity was taken aback.
That was one of her favorite foods, especially if it was spicy.
However, she had just said that she was not hungry, and it would be embarrassing for her to eat them.
She needed Vermont to find an excuse for her to eat.
So, she pretentiously glanced at it and flatly said, "Roasted pork belly has such high calories. I'm going to gain so much weight if
I were to eat this so late at night."
Given Vermont's high EQ, he would definitely say something like, "You're so skinny. Eating this will only give you more energy
throughout winter. Mammals naturally prefer high- calorie foods, and dieting goes against the laws of nature."
Then, she would have a reasonable excuse to eat them.
Vermont had always been really good with his words.
At least, that was what Felicity thought and expected. She was waiting for Vermont to say that.
However, she was wrong.
Vermont kept quiet for a moment before he nodded and said, "Fine, I'll eat them all, then."
Felicity was puzzled.
He was not joking. After saying that, he picked up the disposable utensils and unwrapped the aluminum foil.
Felicity could not resist the smell, as she said, "You can't eat things that are too spicy, right? Did you forget how you suffered
three days in the toilet after eating the chicken parmigiana back then?"
Vermont was speechless.
Then, he said in a displeased tone. "And, you have the audacity to remind me of it? Why did you make it so spicy for me when
you already knew that I couldn't handle it?"
Felicity scoffed. "You were the one who lied to me first. You told me that you'd help me with investigating Hylda, yet what have
you done? You had Keegan do all the work and then came to take the credits. You tricked me into making food for you! You
should be glad that I didn't make you suffer for a week in the toilet!"
Vermont kept quiet.
Then, he murmured softly, "Well, it's not like I didn't do anything to help at all. You were too ruthless."
Felicity swept her glance across him. "What did you do to help?"
"I passed your message to Keegan," he said.
Felicity glared at him. "How shameless of you!"
