Chapter 1588
Darcie chuckled. She played the role of an affectionate elder and gently adjusted a strand of Kayla's hair, "You always know how
to make me laugh, my dear."
Kayla quipped back, "I'm serious. My mom always questions how you look younger than her when both of you are similar in age.
She's practically green with envy."
Darcie glanced at Stella, whose expression remained cool and detached. Her smile deepened. After a bit of small talk, she finally
asked, "Are you here for something?"
Kayla could not resist venting, "It's those jewelry pieces I ordered earlier. The designer did such a horrid job. My dad could not
stop laughing when I showed it to him. He asked me why I was wearing a rooster around my neck. It really got under my skin."
Her friends around her burst into laughter, "Mr. Wilson sure has a sense of humor!"
"Why not return it?"
"Custom-made jewelry usually can't be returned unless there's a quality issue, right?"
"That's so unfair! Kayla paid so much money for the jewelry, yet it looks hideous. And now you're saying she can't return it? This
is daylight robbery!"
Stella furrowed her brows slightly. 'When did I ever send
Kayla a rooster-themed piece?' she wondered.
Darcie's gaze shifted to Stella. She smiled faintly and said," Stella is still quite new to all of this, having just taken over. She might
not be entirely familiar with how things work yet. If you truly dislike it, just bring it over, and I'll ensure you get a refund. Business
should be a mutual agreement, not a forced transaction."
This statement showcased Darcie’s understanding of business. Not only did she advocate for Stella and clean up her mess, but
she also accommodated her customers.
However, beneath the surface, it was a subtle critique of Stella's apparent lack of consideration and business ethics.
Stella tightened her fists. She initially planned to fire Chris today, but with Darcie's unexpected appearance and Kayla causing a
scene in the store, she knew she had no chance of doing so.
As Stella contemplated her next move, Kayla suddenly stated, "I've already returned it, and they've made a new one for me.”
As she spoke, she pulled out the jade phoenix pendant she was wearing. The jade was of exceptional quality, and the
craftsmanship was exquisite. Everyone was instantly captivated.
Darcie's expression stiffened, but she quickly regained composure, "You seemed so upset just now. I thought they didn't fix it for
you."
"Oh, it's not like that. I just recalled how you arranged for
Barbara to work with me, and I couldn't help but get mad," said Kayla.
She continued, "You have no idea how many times she took advantage of me. She would mess up my order every time, and I'd
have to tell her to refine the design and make it more elegant. I also told her I didn't want large pieces, but she never listened
and always charged me more than what I was asking for. I understand she did that because she would get a higher commission,
but it just doesn’t sit right with me.
"Moreover, the designs she came up with were truly dreadful. Mrs. Saun, you clearly have a talented designer in your store. Why
on earth did you assign Barbara to me? She even plagiarized other people's work! I'm glad Ms. Hall let her go and arranged a
new designer for me. I'm genuinely pleased with her work. I considered having her create another set for me, but she mentioned
her superiors had assigned her to a different project. So she'll have to find someone else to work with me. I was not happy with
that, so I rushed here."
Kayla looked at Stella and said, "I don't want anyone else. I want the designer you set me up with before." She paused
momentarily, her tone assertive, "I don't mind paying more as long as I get to work with her again. Also, the designs on the
brochure don't look as good as the ones you showed me before. How much would it cost to hire you as my image consultant?"
Everyone was stunned to hear that, including Stella.
'So she wasn't here to bring Stella down?'
