Chapter 1610
Stella recognized the kidnapper that Keegan had unmasked earlier. It was the same person who attacked Marshall previously.
'Is he here to take his revenge on me?
'No, that can't be right. He was going after Keegan, and he only pulled me into the van because I didn't let go.
'Why would he do this to Keegan? Could it be that it's related to today's meeting?'
Stella's mind was a mess, and she was overwhelmed by her own assumptions.
However, she knew that it was not the time to find out the kidnapper's motive. Instead, she needed to find a way to save Keegan
and herself.
The kidnapper had searched both of them thoroughly and took away their phone and other electronic devices. The phone that
Stella had secretly thrown under the seat was the only thing they did not take, which offered Stella a glimmer of hope.
Her phone was on silent, and she needed to send out a message before the kidnappers found it.
As she thought about it, she heard the driver answering a
call. She could not hear what the caller said, but the driver replied, "Don't worry, he's not going anywhere."
Stella's heart sank. It turned out that Marshall's assailant was not the mastermind, and there were others behind it.
The driver was very cautious during the entire call. He did not reveal any name or details about the caller and quickly hung up
after the call.
Stella did not get any other useful information, so when the kidnappers were talking to each other, she opened her eyes by a tiny
gap to glance around.
Keegan was thrown in the back row and lying horizontally with his hands tied behind his back. She could not see his face from
her position. Instead, the only thing she could see were the bloodstains on his white suit.
Stella's heart broke. However, she suppressed her emotions and continued to look around. Then, she noticed that the phone she
had thrown into the van earlier was right under the seat of the kidnapper on the left.
In truth, it was a very noticeable spot. But none of the kidnappers had expected her to throw the phone under the seat, so none
of them checked.
Stella could not make any big movements, as both of her hands and legs were tied. So, she had to wait for the right time.
After some time, the driver stopped the car. Based on what Stella heard from their conversation, she knew that they were going
to buy some food and water.
The two kidnappers in the back got out, leaving the driver waiting in the car alone.
The driver took out a cigarette. Then, he began searching for a lighter but could not find one anywhere. He glanced at the people
behind, made sure that they were still unconscious, and stepped out of the van.
When Stella did not hear any sound in the van, she quickly opened her eyes.
She moved toward the door and attempted to open it.
However, when she realized that it was locked, she knew that there was no chance for her to call others for help. They were in
the middle of nowhere, and she could barely see any houses nearby, let alone people.
She turned around and managed to retrieve her phone after a few attempts. She could not even unlock her phone due to how
scared she was. When she finally managed to do so, she opened a random chat, shared her live location, and dialed 911.
Her tears almost fell out the moment when the call was connected. She quickly told the police about what was happening, kept
her phone connected, and hid it in a more concealed spot.
The kidnappers had yet to return, so Stella crept back to the rear. She knelt on the ground and called out to Keegan with a
trembling voice. "Keegan, Babe, wake up. You're scaring me."
Her voice shook, and when she looked at Keegan's pale face and bloody head, her heart wrenched.
Keegan's eyelids twitched as if he had heard Stella's voice. Then, he opened his eyes and said in a hoarse voice," Stella..."
Stella's heart trembled, and she almost burst out crying.
"Everything's going to be okay." She gently rubbed her face against Keegan's cheek and tried her best to keep herself
calm. "Don't be scared... I've already called the police.
They'll get us out of here soon. Don't worry... we'll be fine..." she comforted Keegan, i
