Chapter 1333
Anastasia was afraid to pick up his call before this. She also hardly went out and often distanced herself from everyone else.
Seeing her in that state made Cameron feel worried and helpless. He was at a loss as a parent to connect with his daughter,
who had never known a mother.
He had learned in the military that only a stern leader could train a disciplined army, and he believed the same was true for
raising obedient children. He then demanded that she follow the rules as if they were in the army.
Anastasia did become obedient, but overly so. She looked at him in fear and would even tremble upon hearing his voice. That
was not what he wanted, but he did not know how to make a change.
Then something happened. When Alexander dropped by yesterday afternoon, they chatted for a while.
Cameron rather admired the young man. Smart, driven, and resourceful yet principled, Alexander possessed qualities rarely
found among businessmen nowadays. Despite Cameron’s stature,
Alexander did not attempt to solicit favors from him.
Therefore, Cameron was surprised when Alexander talked about his wife. Cameron was not interested at first in learning about
others’ personal lives. Besides, he did not have a good impression of Lily.
She encouraged Anastasia to eat dessert and filled her mind with wild ideas. If it were not for Alexander's sake, he would get the
servants to throw her out of his house.
However, Alexander did not try to beg forgiveness for his wife or defend her. Instead, he related an interesting thing he had
learned about her.
He told Cameron that he used to think Lily was naive and stubborn.
However, after being with her, he discovered that she knew what she was talking about, although she did not bother to explain
herself. Once Lily achieved her goals, Alexander realized she was not being impulsive and that she had a valid point.
She did not like to argue and would only use the results to prove her point. Once Alexander realized he could put his faith in her,
he gave her complete autonomy.
At that time, Cameron said, "That's because you're her husband! Ifit's someone else, there’s no reason to trust her!"
Alexander laughed, saying, "She never cares if anyone chooses to believe her. She would persist in doing what she wants and
let the results speak for themselves."
Cameron was doubtful, but when he returned and saw how
Anastasia reacted, he suddenly felt that it might be worth a try as long as his daughter was safe.
Just as his daughter had told him, she had nothing to lose, and things could not get worse than they were now.
All of a sudden, he decided to let go. After all, he had not seen his daughter so happy for a long time.
"Ron?" As Fabian had not responded, he asked again in bewilderment.
Cameron caught himself and put down the file in his hand. "Why are you here?"
"I just came to see you. Rhea—" He tried to laugh it off. Knowing that Cameron had not yet left for work, he timed his arrival
accordingly.
Cameron always stuck to the rules in the office and making an appointment to see him there was troublesome.
"If there’s nothing else, I shall leave for my office." Cameron got straight to his point. He was forthright and had no patience for
beating around the bush. Besides, he knew that his late wife’s brother would never bring gifts over without reason, and he had a
rough idea why he was here.
