While the Death Demon and the death spirits had managed to escape, James was heavily surrounded by the Doom Race’s
soldiers.
At the same time, the Spatial seal had been restored and gradually stabilized.
James had lost his time to escape. Besides the Dooms’ army, he would also have to go up against Qimat, who had achieved the
Middle Stage of the Terra Acme Rank, and several other Acmeans.
‘Anyway, I have no plans of running now. If I were to do that, these guys would try to hunt down Death Demon instead,’ James
thought.
Qimat was standing somewhere not too far away from James. He fixed a stony gaze at the man holding an ordinary -looking
black sword, which was emanating a strange white glow.
“I’ve finally got to meet you in person. I guess I’ve made the right call this time. Even if those Heaven-Eradicating Sect members
had managed to slip away, it would still be enough if I could successfully take you in.”
James flashed him a smile. “Did you guys do all these things just to lure me out of hiding?”
Qimat replied, “Of course not. We happened to receive new information on the location of the Heaven-Eradicating
Sect’s headquarters. Our patriarch sent us here to capture the sect’s members. However, we didn’t expect to find that they were
receiving the help of a powerful person.”
He continued, “Who knew Madam Thea from the Primordial Realm Era would still be alive today?! I am truly glad that she hasn’t
fully regained her powers. Otherwise, I would’ve stood zero chance of winning the battle this time.”
James was not surprised by the fact that Qimat knew about Thea. Thea was a prominent figure among humans ever since the
Primordial Realm Era.
“Were you the one who impersonated our patriarch and acquired a token from the Cloud Race?” Qimat cast an icy gaze at
James.
James nodded calmly. “Yep. That was me.”
James had decided not to act rashly after analyzing his current situation. Instead, he was silently considering the options he had
left at the moment.
‘It is almost impossible for me to get away in one piece when so many of them are trying to catch me.
‘The only way I can escape here is by using the Flame Art’s Three Fire Transformations. However, I wouldn’t be able to infiltrate
the Doom Race’s base if I were to use that skill here. Moreover, I won’t be able to carry on with my other plans afterward.’ James
pondered.
Soon enough, he came up with a plan.
“In that case, you should surrender and come with us. We might spare you if you are willing to cooperate,” Qimat said in a low
voice.
Qimat had no intention of killing James. He needed the man alive since Youri had to offer an explanation to the other races. If
they could prove to the others that James was the real culprit, Youri could naturally secure his seat as the patriarch.
“I can come with you.” James began, “However, you should know that this was the Great Elder’s... I mean the Patriarch. I was
only acting on the current Patriarch’s orders.”
Qimat narrowed his eyes as he scrutinized the expression on James’ face.
James went on calmly, ‘Think about it. I’m from the humans, but I can wield the Chaos Power. Even some of the best fighters
from the Dooms have yet to master that power, but I have. Do you think I can achieve that without the guidance of a powerful
master from the Dooms?”
“Are you saying Mr. Youri has taught you to master the Chaos Power?”
Qimat was skeptical about the man’s claims. He had not heard of any of this even though he had worked for Youri a long time.
“Of course.” James made up a story on the spot. “Our people have been secretly working with Mr. Youri for quite some time. He
even planned out the incident involving Wyot Dalibor to eliminate the guy. Unfortunately, Wyot managed to escape.”
“That’s all the more reason you should come with us. We can confirm everything once we meet with Mr. Youri,” Qimat replied
flatly.
James nodded. “It’s been some time since I’ve last seen him. Now that he’s the Patriarch of the Doom Race, I won’t have to go
through the trouble of meeting him secretly to ask him about the next step in our plan.”
