Upon hearing Yukha’s words, James' mind flashed with myriad thoughts.
"How could things be so coincidental? Just as I acted, I encountered a tough
opponent. Wasn't it said that phoenixes had little standing in this world? So how
come a roc appeared suddenly?’
Momentarily stunned, James could not help but feel a chill run down his spine as
he looked at Yukha's smug face. "Pretty sister, are you deliberately setting me
up?" "Hey, let's clarify things,” Yukha replied with conviction. "I told you to capture
twenty phoenixes and twenty nine-tailed foxes, not to mess with the Xyrll
Phoenix." "What do you mean?" James’ face twitched in confusion. "Wait, are
you implying you're not going to help me?"
Yukha chuckled ruefully. "Well, you've stirred up this mess yourself, so you'll
have to deal with it. That's the rule in the Ying World." "Your rules are
nonsensical. You show up only after everything is done, knowing there are traps
inside. This is typical of shady business dealings.
"Yukha might look like an angel, but she harbored a dark heart, specializing in
schemes where she'd buy someone only to make them count her money
afterward.’
Thinking this, James straightened his posture and retorted, "Fine, bring it on. I've
already dealt with Taotie, so this Zenithal Roc Matron shouldn't be much trouble.
It's just another practice."
Yukha rolled her eyes and was about to respond when a piercing screech
echoed from the void of the Leviathan Forest.
The next moment, a dazzling amethyst-gold light streaked through the air like
billions of shimmering stars, suffocating the surroundings with its overwhelming
temperature and terrifying aura, sweeping across the heavens and earth.
"It's here,” Yukha sighed lightly.
Frowning, James saw a massive amethyst-gold monster with the head of a bird
and the body of a human from within the light. Its wingspan immediately engulfed
the airspace, shrouding the vast surroundings in darkness, and making it
impossible to see anything.
Within the darkness, countless points of light dashed toward James and Yukha.
"What are those?" James asked anxiously.
"The spirit beasts,” Yukha replied. "They're coming for you."
Startled, James transformed into a streak of black and white light, instantly
flashing behind Yukha.
"Hah, you sly little fox," Yukha chuckled. "You think you can betray me?"
Before her words could sink in, countless specks of light swiftly approached,
sweeping past her and heading straight for James behind her.
Simultaneously, the amethyst-gold monster in the void expanded even more, its
terrifying aura growing stronger.
Seeing the countless spirit beasts converging towards him, James immediately
utilized the Terrastride Step and reappeared beside Yukha.
"Pretty lady, this isn't a game. Are you really going to stand by and watch?"
James asked firmly.
"A mere flock of spirit beasts isn't a problem for you," Yukha laughed.” Hurry up
and run, they're coming again."
James turned around to see the swarm of spirit beasts charging toward him once
more.
Cursing under his breath, James executed the Dawnblaze Form and vanished
into another void.
Just then, a deep and sharp female voice suddenly resounded in the void.
"Miss Yukha, we've always kept to our own affairs. Why did you unjustly order
your disciple to curse my son, humiliating him in every way possible? Do you
really think the Spirit Beast Clan is so weak and easily bullied?"
