Chapter 1068
Though Thalassa felt a pang of disappointment at Lysander’s questioning, she would never joke about something as serious as
their child.
Beyond her intimacy with Lysander, she hadn’t so much as held hands with another man. And yet, he had the gall to doubt the
paternity of her child!
His gaze met hers. Her eyes were defiant in their desolation. The corners of his thin lips curled into a mocking sneer. “Really?
Shall I list all the lies you’ve told me one by one? Perhaps I should write them down and compile a book for you to pore over.”
His large hand grasped her chin, lifting her face to meet his brooding, handsome features. They were mere inches apart, his
breath, heavy with anger, fanned across her face, stealing her breath and causing her eyelashes to tremble.
Thalassa’s heart constricted as she looked into his eyes and asserted firmly, “I didn’t lie to you. The child is yours!”
She knew she had told him many lies, but each one was born from desperation. She wanted to protect those dear to her,
unwilling to lose the people who mattered most. She had no choice but to keep certain truths from Lysander.
The secrets she kept from him were harmless, causing him no injury, no loss. It was all to shield her mother.
As Lysander’s gaze bore into her, unwavering and intense, his silence was oppressive, and his presence was suffocating.
She had seen that unwavering gaze many times before.
How many times had he believed in her words, only to be deceived again and again, eroding his trust to the point of utter
disappointment?
He faced her; his deep eyes were cold as ice and captured hers. “You went to great lengths to hide that you were taking birth
control pills at Central Ring Villa, and you claimed you weren’t deceiving me!”
As he leaned in closer, his lips almost devilishly near hers, each word he uttered struck her like ice, threatening to freeze her
solid.
Her heart skipped as she began to confess the reasons for her secrecy.
A rough touch seized her chin, and an intimidating aura smashed her heart. She feared, almost intending to spill out the truth
that she had been hiding.
But the words halted on her lips.
She had worked so hard to keep her mother’s humiliation secret, going through all difficulties to delete the incriminating video
from Bruce’s possession.

Chapter 1068
To reveal what Evelyn had suffered would be no different from broadcasting that video.
She couldn’t speak!
“What is it? Speak!” Lysander’s eyes were hard, his voice a low growl of demand.
Thalassa’s breath trembled, and she swallowed the truth she intended to reveal. Under Lysander’s icy gaze, she stammered,
“I... I got the pills mixed up. I mistook the birth control for vitamins...”
“Do you take me for a fool?” His grip on her chin tightened. His voice came out through gritted teeth, and his breaths were heavy
with fury.
A pain sharp as broken bones shot through her chin. She winced; her nerves were pounding: “I really did get the pills mixed
up...”
She stubbornly insisted on her story, admitting the birth control was indeed consumed by her.
Lysander watched her intently, his anger palpable. “Fine, very well... At the hotel beneath Crest Summit, it was Bruce who
kidnapped you, yet you insisted that it was only Elliott and that Callum saved you! You’re protecting Bruce, but who are you
covering for now?”
His grip was like a vise, tightening ever more. Thalassa gasped for air through the pain.
Enduring the agony, she stubbornly said, “Because Bruce is my father. I didn’t want him to go to jail...”
She knew she couldn’t keep the truth from Lysander forever.
He would eventually uncover the truth about the kidnapping and Bruce.
And she had her story ready.
Lysander’s heart felt as though it had been shot by her words. It was a dull, painful throb. Even now, she was unyielding.
