The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet (Thalassa and Elowen)

Chapter 1133
“My boss let me off work two hours early, and here I am, just standing on the curb, clueless about where to go next,” Thalassa
mused, her gaze drifting over the endless stream of cars, still at a loss.
“Where are you? I’ll come pick you up. I’ve been bored out of my mind, too, with no one to hang with. Can’t believe you’re flying
solo as well,” Hertha exclaimed with a hint of surprise in her voice.
“Nah, just tell me where you are. I’ll grab a cab over there, no need for you to come get me,” Thalassa replied.
Hertha rattled off her location.
Before long, Thalassa arrived at the address, a bar where the technicolor lights danced over Hertha, who was sipping on a drink
while enjoying the performance of a singer crooning at the bar.
Thalassa made her way over and settled down beside her, asking, “What’s with the daytime bar-hopping?”
“Just killing time,” Hertha said, snapping back from her reverie. She pushed a freshly ordered juice towards Thalassa, “You’re
expecting, so no alcohol for you. Have some juice instead.”
Feeling parched, Thalassa took a grateful sip and asked, “What’s up with you? You look even more down than I am.”
“Just feeling lonely, craving some romance. Without love’s nourishment, I’m as lonesome as a beagle without a bone,” Hertha
quipped, cupping her cheeks and sticking out her tongue in a goofy imitation of a lovelorn pup.
Her comical expression and lively banter drew a burst of laughter from Thalassa.

“Isn’t your office full of eligible bachelors? You’ve got suitors aplenty-pick one and bid farewell to singlehood,” Thalassa teased
when she took another sip of her juice.
“I’m not just anybody, okay? I can’t just pick anyone. Love’s got to be top-shelf with someone I truly fancy. Otherwise, I’m better
off alone,” Hertha declared.
“Still hung up on Alaric?” Thalassa probed. She had known her friend for years but had never seen her fall for anybody. Now she
was smitten by Alaric.
“Let’s not go there. I’m trying to get over him and set my sights on new horizons, Hertha waved off, downcast. She raised her
glass and took a generous gulp, the liquor’s burn prompting a sharp hiss.
Setting down her glass, she turned to Thalassa with her tipsy eyes, “So, spill. What’s got you down? Share with me and let’s
figure it out together.”

Thalassa recounted her encounter with Debby earlier that day.
Hertha sighed, her eyelashes fluttering down, “Debby’s got a heart full of passion, too. Nobody saw Leopold’s fall coming. She
shouldn’t blame you; you didn’t want this any more than the rest of us. You’d give anything for Leopold to be well and to live
happily ever after.”
“Just thinking about Leopold makes my heart heavy,” Thalassa confessed, exhaling a sorrowful breath. “If he’d never met me, he
could’ve married someone his family approved of, had kids, and lived out a happy life.”

“This world has no room for ‘ifs. Everyone must own their choices. Leopold walked his path by his own will; that’s on him, not
you. No matter what life throws at us, what burdens we bear, the most important thing is to live well. We’ve only got one life, and
once it’s spent, it’s gone,” Hertha gently reassured her, patting Thalassa’s shoulder.
Deep down, Thalassa understood this. But she still couldn’t let go as she thought of Leopold.
“Ladies, mind if I join you at this empty seat?” At that moment, a cheeky male voice broke the somber mood.
Thalassa and Hertha turned in unison to find themselves looking at a devilishly
handsome face. The man held a drink, his alluring eyes sparkling with mirth as he gazed at Hertha.
“Damn, do you just pop up everywhere?” Hertha blurted out, caught off guard for a second before her tone shifted to one of
playful banter.
