The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet (Thalassa and Elowen)

Chapter 1144
Remington made his decision not just because of that thing Alaric said, but also because Hertha had just fearlessly countered
Angelina’s remarks.
He saw the love between Alaric and Hertha.
And if they were in love, well, things were going to be a whole lot easier.
“Father, do you even hear yourself?” Angelina said with discontent.
“That settles it then,” Remington declared to Angelina. “That engagement with the Reeds was your doing; none of us, including
Alaric, agreed to it. It’s hardly an engagement, just you cozying up to the Reeds. Now, the Falconers are willing to shell out half a
billion to clean up your mess. So cool it, would you?”
Though Remington no longer ran the Falconer empire, his words carried weight and efficiency.
He said they would invest half a billion into the Reed Group, and sure enough, the Falconers would soon open to fulfill that
promise.
Angelina wanted to retort, but seeing Remington’s set in a look that brooked no further argument, she backed down. Even so,
the discontent stewed in her.
“Sweetheart, haven’t had dinner yet, have you? Our kitchen’s whipping up something special as we speak. Why don’t you stay?”
Beatrice was warmly inviting Hertha to stay.
“Grandma, I really shouldn’t...”

“Stay for the meal, then I’ll drive you home,” Alaric said, squeezing her hand with an earnestness that seemed to mirror true
lovers’ fervor.
Alaric’s apparent reluctance to part with Hertha was not lost on Beatrice and Remington, who were grinning from ear to ear at
the sight.
“Exactly. At least stay for lunch. Take it as a gesture from us here,” Remington said, his demeanor instantly softening from the
stern front he presented to Angelina. He was now looking kindly upon Hertha.
Faced with such warmth, Hertha found it a mistake to refuse. She felt it was difficult to
say no.
“Thank you both.” Hertha replied, thinking to herself that she might as well see this through. Once the deed was done, Alaric
would have no grounds to say she hadn’t put in the effort, and then he’d have to help her meet Dominic, the star she was crazy
about.
That was all because she became infatuated with Dominic recently.
She had agreed to Alaric’s absurd request just because she could meet Dominic face-to-face.

“There you go. No need for thanks, we’re all family here,” Beatrice said. She was growing fonder of Hertha by the minute.
So Alaric had a thing for cushy girls, she mused. Good, very good. The prospect of chubby grandchildren delighted her.

Angelina was the least pleased. Casting a sidelong glance at Alaric and Hertha’s clasped hands, she felt there was something
off.
Even in the throes of love, you don’t hold hands all the time. She thought.
The more they tried to show, the more dubious it seemed.
“I’ll go check on the meal preparations,” Angelina said, using it as an excuse to leave the living room for the kitchen.
“Hertha, what would you like to eat? I’ll have the kitchen whip it up for you,” Beatrice offered.
“No need to bother, really. I’m easy to please and I like everything,” Hertha said so politely.
“Then I’ll make sure the chef prepares us a feast,” Beatrice said with a smile and headed for the kitchen.
Upon entering, she found Angelina leaning against a counter, arms crossed, stewing.
“Trying to meddle in your own son’s love life now, are you?” Beatrice approached.
Angelina snapped out of her reverie and quickly assisted Beatrice, ” That’s not what I meant, Beatrice. I just suspect Alaric and
that woman’s relationship might not be the real deal.”
“What do you mean by that?” Beatrice inquired.
Angelina relayed what she had seen at the bar, and the fact that Alaric and Hertha were holding hands all the time could be
contrived.
Hearing this, Beatrice grew skeptical too, “Alaric can’t be that foolish to bring a woman home just to fool us, can he?”
