Chapter 1150
Hertha’s cheeks flared a fiery red as she hastily retorted, “Get over yourself. Who’d want to sleep with you? If I didn’t want some
alone time with Dominic, do you think I’d agree to play your little girlfriend charade to appease your family?”
“Why are you standing so far away, then? Afraid I’ll gobble you up?” Alaric’s lips curled into an amused smirk, his tone teasing
and relaxed
“It’s because I’m afraid you won’t be able to control yourself!” Hertha blurted out defensively.
“Trust me, with all the women I’ve met, you don’t light my fire,” Alaric replied, his voice as
cool as a cucumber.
Deflated, Hertha’s temper flared up in a flash, “Oh, so you feel accomplished? I bet you’re
as worn out as an old nail!”
Hertha was undefeated in a war of words.
The smile that had been playing at the corner of Alaric’s mouth vanished, and his gaze turned steely as he looked at Hertha.
“Are you even a lady? How can you spout such talk?”
“Can’t you tell if I’m a woman? What, are you blind?” Hertha shot back.
Alaric took a deep breath, visibly annoyed, and nodded, “Yeah, I must be blind. Maybe it’s time I found out for myself if you’re
really a woman, and showed you if I’m as worn out as you claim!”
“How do you propose doing that?” Hertha retorted without thinking.
Alaric’s eyes widened incredulously, doubting whether her remark was intentional, just to get a rise out of him.
He stared at her, perplexed. Hertha met his gaze with a hint of confusion in her eyes. Their eyes locked, and an unspoken
energy seemed to grow between them, seeping into their hearts.
Hertha’s pulse quickened as she took in his devilishly handsome features. His narrow, seductive eyes locked onto hers, like a fox
ensnaring its prey, her heart pounding uncontrollably.
Alaric’s gaze lingered on Hertha’s dewy appearance, her wet hair clinging to her fair skin, droplets of water trailing down, her
petite and slightly voluptuous figure enveloped in his bathrobe, giving her an innocent yet sensual allure.
His Adam’s apple bobbed, and the heat he had been trying to suppress surged to his core, tensing his body.

Just as the air between them grew thick with tension, Hertha pinched her thigh hard to snap back to reality.
She averted her eyes and mumbled, “Your back’s just a bit bruised, nothing serious. It should be fine in a few days. I should go
to another room now.”
Her eyes darted around, avoiding Alaric’s gaze. Without waiting for a response, she turned and walked away.
Alaric shifted his gaze away, making no attempt to stop her.
As Hertha reached the door and swung it open, she jumped at the sight of the person standing there. It was Beatrice.
Hertha calmed herself down said with a shaky voice, “Granny, I think I’ve wandered into the wrong room. This is Alaric’s room,
isn’t it? The guest room is next door, right?”
Though Hertha was well aware that Beatrice had intentionally led her to Alaric’s room to check her relationship with Alaric, she
knew better than to call out the elderly woman’s intentions. That would be far too embarrassing.
Beatrice, holding two glasses of milk, spoke with a warm smile, “You didn’t wander into the wrong room, dear. I brought you here
on purpose. Since you and Alaric are an item, it’s only proper that you stay together. Besides, you’re part of the Falconer family
now. It wouldn’t be right to have you stay in a guest room, would it?”
