The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet (Thalassa and Elowen)

Chapter 1171
Angelina didn’t hold her tongue; instead, she delivered a crushing blow to Hertha.
No matter how many other women Alaric entertained, he was bound to end up marrying Georgia. Her influential family could give
him the boost he needed to become powerful and snatch the CEO position at Falconer Enterprises.
Hertha was just one of his many conquests, nothing more.
Suddenly, Hertha grasped the brutal pecking order. Her heart felt as if it was being crushed under a boulder, leaving her
breathless and gasping for air.
How could she have believed Alaric’s sweet nothings? She was fooled into thinking his promises of undying affection and
exclusive commitment were genuine.
Knowing full well it was all a charade, she still deluded herself into thinking he meant every word and had willingly surrendered
herself to him.
The realization that last night’s folly was nothing but a cruel joke made her chest ache with every breath.
Angelina pulled open a drawer in the dining room sideboard, taking out a check she had prepared earlier, pen poised at the
ready.
She scribbled a figure of two million dollars, tore off the check, and extended it towards Hertha with a haughty tone, “Here’s two
million. Just consider it compensation for your company last night. I trust you know what to do next.”
Hertha glanced at the check, the zeros blinding her.

She swallowed the pain in her heart, masking her sorrow with a carefree smile, “You’re not running low on cash, are you? Giving
me a check with only two million written on that?”
She waved the check in the air nonchalantly with a mocking smirk on her face.
Angelina frowned. She was taken aback, “What?”
Hertha laughed hollowly, “As you said, it’s all just a game. So why take it so seriously? Surely Alaric spends more than two
million on his girlfriends. If you really want to cut ties, two million hardly seems enough. Besides, who deals in checks these
days? You think you can send someone packing without cold hard cash?”
Angelina had expected tears and desperate clinging. She had her dismissive retorts prepared.
But she hadn’t anticipated Hertha’s brazen demand for money, her face alight with the smug satisfaction of having played Alaric
for a profit.
Instantly, Angelina felt a knot of anger in her chest.

Just another money-grubbing woman, she thought. She’d seen and dealt with too many of them.
“Two million in cash is doable, but that’s my final offer. Take it or leave it, there won’t be a penny more.”
“Deal!” Hertha quickly grabbed the black pen from Angelina’s hand and scribbled her account information on the check.

Handing it back, she said firmly, “This is my account number. Transfer it now. Once it’s in my account, I’ll be out of your hair and
never see Alaric again. And I won’t come near his wedding, either.”
Was this a threat?
Did she imply she’d ruin Alaric’s wedding if she didn’t get paid now?
This woman was no easy prey.
Fuming, Angelina took a deep breath. Her high-society composure kept her anger at bay.
“Fine,” she said with strained calmness, “but you’d better keep your word, or you’ll regret it.” “Save your threats for your precious
daughter-in-law. Alaric was quite the catch, and now I’m two million richer. Either way, I’d say I’ve come out ahead, don’t you
think?” Hertha retorted with a light chuckle.
