Chapter 1209
Thalassa couldn’t take it anymore-the embarrassment was too much. She almost turned
on her heel to leave.
But then she thought of his injury, of how he was still recovering, and she suppressed the
urge.
Her hands trembled as she slowly unzipped his jeans, her forehead beading with sweat, her breath tight in her chest.
As soon as she pulled the zipper down, Lysander wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close with a firm tug.
He held the back of her head, his lips claiming hers in a fierce and fiery kiss that stole her breath and spun her world.
In the steamy heat of the bathroom, their passion rose quickly, filling the space with an intoxicating mist.
At work, Thalassa received great news from Ethan; the new smartphone ad campaign shot by Susan had been a hit,
skyrocketing sales.
This was indeed fantastic news.
But Thalassa was preoccupied with something else.
“So, does this mean the Crawley Group’ stock is going through the roof? With Bruce’s family having invested two hundred
thousand dollars, they must be rolling in it, huh?” she
asked.
Ethan smiled, shaking his head with a hint of mystery.
Seeing him shake his head without a word, Thalassa’s curiosity piqued. “Mr. Ethan, wh
you mean by that? Did Bruce strike it rich or not?”

Leaning in just a bit closer, Ethan shared with a secretive tone, “They lost everything.”
“What?” Thalassa gasped, not fully understanding the intricacies.
“But didn’t the new smartphone sell like hotcakes? How could the stock fall?” she pressed.
“The new smartphone from the Crawley Group did sell exceptionally well, and they invested because they believed in its future.
But you see, a company’s stock doesn’t just depend on one aspect; it’s about the overall health and multiple sectors,” Ethan
explained. “We’re on fire in the smartphone market, but we’ve been bested in computers by an up-and-coming brand. The profits
from computers are much higher than from smartphones. Overall, the Crawley Group’ profits are down, and that’s caused the
stock market to tremble and stocks to fall,” Ethan said with a smile.

Thalassa got it, but Ethan’s smile didn’t sit right with her.
“Mr. Ethan, people usually frown upon hearing their stocks have plummeted. Why do I get the feeling you’re actually enjoying
this?”
After all, a drop in stock value affects the company.
Ethan, as the boss, seemed unusually joyful for someone who had just lost money.
“I’m happy the new smartphone is a hit,” Ethan replied, dodging the real issue.
“No, I mean...”
“I imagine, Bruce must be at home right now, bawling his eyes out. Two hundred thousand gone, not a penny left. The mere
thought is, well, quite amusing,” Ethan said, not waiting for Thalassa to respond, his eyes glinting slyly
“So, you’re happy because of Bruce’s misfortune?” Thalassa asked, astonished.
Ethan snapped back to the present and told her, “Focus on your work, don’t overthink it.”
With that, he stood up and left the secretary’s office.
Thalassa found him odd and his words mismatched.
Deep into her work, Thalassa’s phone rang with an unfamiliar number.
But when she saw the last digits, she knew it was Bruce.
Her nerves tightened, and after a moment’s hesitation, she answered.
“Thalassa, I need five million dollars transferred to me now. If not, within two minutes, the entire internet will be flooded with
videos of your mother!” Bruce’s voice was urgent and menacing.
