Chapter 1225
Today, Lysander only lingered on the edge of the play mat for a few seconds before striding away, marching upstairs with a
visage that was stormy and dark as a winter’s night.
Thalassa watched Lysander’s retreating figure, exhaling a breath she didn’t realize she’d been holding. Her body relaxed, but her
heart remained taut with unease, wondering what had ruffled his feathers. She had already laid out the reasons for her meet-up
with Callum today, and he had accepted her explanation.
Why was he suddenly in a huff again?
Thalassa had never been able to fully read Lysander.
“Mama, does Daddy not like our new house?” Elowen’s little face turned towards Thalassa, her expression one of tiny heartbreak
as she asked in a timid voice.
Thalassa quickly soothed her, “No, sweetheart, Daddy’s just busy with work, and he’s gone to take care of it.”
“Yeah, Daddy loves his work, so we should build him an office!” chimed in Dorian, his eyes lighting up with the idea.
“And a desk!” added Atticus.
“And bookshelves, and a computer!” Sophia chimed in, letting her imagination run wild.
“Okay, let’s build with the blocks together!” Elowen regained her cheer, grabbing hold of the colorful pieces and resuming her
construction.
The other three children were equally absorbed in their play, creating a cacophony of joyous laughter.
After putting the four children to bed that evening, Thalassa headed to the master bedroom to shower since all her clothes were
there. Not visiting the master bedroom would mean no clothes to change into, and taking clothes out to shower elsewhere would
seem overly deliberate, possibly tipping Lysander off to her evasiveness.
When Thalassa entered the master bedroom, Lysander was nowhere to be seen. He mus have been busy working in the study.
With a sense of relief, she picked out her clothes and stepped into the bathroom for a
shower.
Meanwhile, Lysander was poring over a contract when his phone buzzed with a call from Ethan in the study.
Sliding to answer, he opened the speaker and continued to scrutinize the document.
Ethan’s teasing voice came through, “Lysander, you haven’t had a spat with Ms. Everhart,

have you? I’d hate to be the cause of any discord between you two over a mere photo-that would weigh on my conscience.”
Ethan’s words were probing, gauging Lysander’s mood. Anger would confirm a quarrel with Thalassa, while a calm tone would
suggest she had mollified him.
Ethan never missed an opportunity to dig for Lysander’s gossip.
“Really? You wouldn’t want us to fight?” Lysander inquired, his tone betraying nothing
amiss.
Denied any juicy details, Ethan felt a twinge of disappointment but still voiced his wish for harmony between Lysander and
Thalassa.
“Of course, man. I naturally want to see you and your wife doing well, all lovey-dovey. But there were some things I saw that you
needed to be aware of, otherwise, I’d be failing in my brotherly duties,” Ethan explained.
He had been shocked to see Callum’s friendly gesture towards Thalassa, and he hoped Lysander was informed-lest he be the
last to know if something was amiss.
“Mind your own business in the future when it comes to my affairs!” Lysander’s voice was harsh, his mood clearly soured.
Seeing the photo Ethan sent had indeed sparked anger, but Thalassa’s explanation had soothed not only that annoyance but
also the irritation over Callum checking her leg injury.
Now, he was irked about something else.
Ethan paused, then chuckled, “Got it, I’ll steer clear of meddling from here on out. By the way, have you looked over that
contract?”
