Chapter 1243
Hertha squirmed uncomfortably in Spencer’s arms, “Spencer, put me down. I can walk on my own.”
“You’re not wearing shoes, and if you step on something sharp, it’s going to hurt like hell. Don’t worry, it’s just a short walk to the
curb where we can hail a cab,” Spencer explained his reason for carrying her.
Hertha looked up and saw that the distance from the park to the street was indeed very short. Even with Spencer carrying her, it
would only be a few steps.
So, she stopped resisting and let him carry her
Once they reached the curb and while waiting for a cab, Hertha asked him to put her down.
But Spencer said, “I’d rather keep you up here. just disinfected your foot, and if you stand on the ground, you might pick up more
germs.
It sounded like a stretch, but she couldn’t really argue.
After all, she was the tomboy who never fussed over cleanliness, while he was the suave gentleman who always seemed
spotless.
After a short wait, a taxi pulled up. Spencer gently placed Hertha inside before sliding in beside her.
Hertha had wanted to refuse his offer to escort her home, but remembering how he had taken the time to call his boss for leave,
she realized that it’s impossible to turn him down.
Soon, they arrived at Hertha’s apartment complex.
Spencer got out of the cab and rushed around to her side. As she stepped out, he was already there, crouching down in a
position that made it easy for him to lift her onto his
back.
Feeling the warmth from his back, Hertha fidgeted, “We’re home now. I really can walk on my own.”
“You’re shoeless, just in case...”
“Okay, okay, I get it.” Hertha interrupted before Spencer could finish, already knowing the germ-related argument he would make.
It seemed like his obsession with cleanliness was a bit too much!
If she claimed it was no big deal, that she was tough enough to handle a few germs, she’d come off as a careless woman.

Chapter 1243
For a woman to appear even less concerned with cleanliness than a man would be quite embarrassing.
Seeing that she no longer objected, a satisfied smile spread across Spencer’s face.
He knew where Hertha lived and carried her to her front door, knocking politely.
The door swung open instantly, and Hertha’s mother Kimberly was momentarily taken aback to see a man carrying her daughter
on his back. But recognizing Spencer, her surprise turned to joy, and she stepped aside, exclaiming warmly, “Spencer and
Hertha are back! Come in.”
Spencer walked Hertha inside, setting her down gently on the couch.
Seeing their close interaction, Kimberly couldn’t stop smiling, “Hertha, Spencer, did you two spend the night together? Have you
had breakfast yet? If not, I’ll whip up something delicious for you now.”
