Chapter 1275
“Evelyn snagged it for me. Plus, I think a traditional breakfast hits the spot just
right.” Callum flashed a hint of a smile, his eyes locked on Thalassa. His lips
curled in amusement, but a shadow of disquiet lurked in his gaze.
The message Evelyn left on Thalassa’s voicemail earlier didn't need any
decoding, especially not for a grown man like Callum.
She spent the night with Lysander.
Despite knowing that she and Lysander had been intimate before, sharing four
kids between them, the stark realization of what Thalassa and Lysander had
done felt like a lump in Callum’s throat.
“Yeah, I just grabbed the breakfast for him. You sit, I'll fetch you some grub,”
Evelyn said, starting to stand.
“Mom, sit down. I can get it myself,” Thalassa insisted.
As Thalassa walked toward the buffet, Evelyn settled back into her seat with a
sigh. “When will this ever end?”
Callum, attempting to lighten the mood, reassured her, “There will come a day
when we'll find a way through this. Let's eat, Evelyn.”
With a gentle smile, he took a bite of his burger.
Evelyn nodded, biting into a donut, too. Neither mentioned the issue at hand
again, but both knew exactly what weighed on their minds.
Thalassa and Lysander were like a modern-day Romeo and Juliet, a couple that
burned fiercely despite knowing it could never be. That was the real concern.
Thalassa returned with a bowl of oatmeal with some salmon.
“You used to hate salmon, didn’t you? What made you change your mind?”
Evelyn asked i surprise.
Picking up a piece of salmon with her fork, Thalassa replied, “I don't know. I just
started liking them.”
“It was when you were pregnant with the quads five years ago that your tastes
changed. Who knows how many you're carrying now,” Evelyn muttered.
Sitting right beside them, Callum overheard the comment. A chill ran up his spine.
“You're pregnant?” he asked, his voice tinged with a mix of astonishment and
pain.
Thalassa continued to eat her oatmeal and salmon calmly, confirming, “Yeah,
almost two months.” She had been pregnant the last time when she ran off to the
Weston Country with Callumn, but she hadn't known it then.

Hearing her affirmation, the sense of loss in Callum’s eyes deepened.
“Mr. Gordon, shall I get you something to drink?” Evelyn asked, attempting to
ease the
tension.
Callum looked down and quietly declined, “No, thanks.”

She knew Callum was a good man, and she couldn’t drag him into her personal
hell. A silent rejection was the most decisive kind.
Callum forced a smile and said, “No, they haven't.”
