Chapter 1280
The boat steadied momentarily, and Thalassa’s breath hitched as she saw her
mother plunge into the water. Panic overtook her senses, and she leapt to her
feet, darting toward the spot where her mother had disappeared, screaming out
loud, “Mom!”
Evelyn struggled in the water, her body sinking and rising, gulping down water
until she could no longer resurface, her form descending into the depths.

“Mom!” Thalassa'’s heart raced, threatening to burst from her throat as she
frantically prepared to dive in after her mother.
Her hands had just grazed the edge of the boat when a strong grip seized her,
pulling her
back.
“Let me go. I have to save my mom!” Thalassa instinctively tried to shake off the
restraint. Lysander’s voice cut through, “Can you even swim? Jumping in would
be suicide.”
“I don’t care! My mom's drowning, can't you see? Let go of me, I have to save
her!” Tears streamed down Thalassa’s face as she struggled fiercely, trying to
break free from Lysander’s grasp.
“Mmm...” Evelyn floundered at the surface, her fate as uncertain as a fish leaping
from the
water.
Thalassa’s heart was in knots, desperation fueling her attempts to shake off
Lysander’s hold, “Let go of me. I have to save her!”
Lysander’s gaze was icy as he looked at her, his eyes a wintry abyss.
“Someone helps!” Callum, using his cane for support, rose to his feet and
shouted across -to a nearby fisherman for assistance.
The fisherman heard the call for help and quickly grabbed a life ring and plunged
into the
water.
But it was too late. Evelyn had already sunk below the surface.
Thalassa stared at the now calm water, her pupils dilated with terror, her scalp
tingling as she cried out, “Mom!”
Herlips quivered and her face turned ashen, her legs going weak.
Lysander watched her panic-stricken expression, his face tense and his
complexion grave. Even in her fear, she hadn't thought to seek his help.
She would rather leap to her own death than ask him for assistance, never
considering in her frantic state that he might be a person she could trust.
Chapter 1280
Suddenly Lysander clenched his jaw and released Thalassa’s wrist.
Now free, Thalassa wobbled, ready to plunge into the water to rescue her
mother.
But a tall, dark figure jumped first, diving into the river.
Thala
stumbled to the edge of the boat, watching as Lysander disappeared beneath
the surface, bubbles popping and then calm returning.
Both Lysander and her mother were gone!
Staring at the tranquil water, Thalassa’s eyes widened with tears falling.
Her body felt limp, and she collapsed onto the deck of the boat.

It was Lysander!
He was holding Evelyn.
Lysander’s hair was drenched, but his face, misted with droplets, still shone in
the sunlight.
He tugged Evelyn along, swimming toward the boat.
Thalassa’s heart was ignited with hope.
Her weakened legs found strength, and she stood, eyes fixed on Lysander and
Evelyn as they approached.
As they reached the side, Thalassa reached out to help.
Lysander lifted Evelyn up, and with Thalassa pulling from aboard, Evelyn was
hauled onto the boat soon.
