Chapter 1287
Mentioning Thalassa’s four kids brought a sparkle to Evelyn's eyes, her heart
swelled with warmth. But then, the thought of them staying with their father and
beyond her reach whenever she wished to see them cast a shadow over her
spirits.
After they finished eating, Thalassa and Evelyn started to pack their bags, getting
ready to
hit the road.
Callum had intended to see them off, but Thalassa insisted, “You should rest that
injured leg of yours, just head back to your room. No need to trouble yourself with
the ups and downs.”
“Have you guys booked your ride?” Callum asked, always sweating the small
stuff.
“It's all set,” Thalassa assured him.
“Alright then, I won't see you out. Safe ride.” Callum conceded.
Dragging their suitcases, Thalassa and Evelyn stepped into the elevator and
descended to the hotel lobby.
Thalassa handed her room key and ID to the receptionist with a curt, “Checking
out!”
She couldn't shake off the irritation from earlier when she called the desk to
request fresh sheets and the receptionist answered with a tone dripping with
condescension.
A vacation was supposed to be joyful, yet it seemed wherever they went, they
stumbled upon snobbery, souring the mood.
The receptionist glanced over her shoulder at Thalassa’s brusque tone and
processed the checkout with an air of impatience.
Thalassa, already harboring a grudge against this receptionist, now felt her
patience wearing thin at the receptionist's dismissive behavior.
Barely containing her anger, Thalassa said coldly, “Keep up this attitude, and I'll
be on the phone to complain about you!”
The receptionist turned, her face a mask of indifference, “Exactly which part of
my service seems poor to you? Aren't I processing your checkout as you asked?”
Just as Thalassa was about to escalate the confrontation, Evelyn stepped in and
tugged at her arm, “Let it go. Let's just get out of here as soon as possible.”
All Evelyn wanted was to get back home and have a good rest.
Yielding to Evelyn's persuasion, Thalassa shot the receptionist a glare but let the
matter slide.
The checkout was completed swiftly, and the receptionist handed back her ID.

Thalassa snatched it and retorted, “Now you can give that room to the gentleman
you were so eager to please!”
With that, she wheeled her suitcase around and stormed off.
