Chapter 676
Thalassa’s tone sounded irritable, as if she had no desire to converse further with Bruce.
Bruce’s tone was fraught with flattery and pleasantry, which was laced with a touch of humor, “Thalassa, I apologize for my
previous rudeness. I wasn’t thinking straight. You’re right, transferring the house under your name is the best course of action.
But I have a question.”
“What’s your question? Hurry up, I don’t have time to chat. I have to get to work.” Thalassa responded like that to create a sense
of urgency.
Bruce knew he needed to act quickly. Otherwise, Thalassa would change her mind later.
“If you receive the three billion and give two billion to me, what would you say if Lysander asks you what you did with the
money?” If Lysander were to investigate, the two billion might still not make it into his hands.
Bruce’s only concern was his own interests.
“Look, like I said, you transfer the house under my name first; once Lysander approves that, he’ll give me the three billion and I’ll
transfer the house back to you. If it can’t be transferred back, I give you an extra two billion. If it goes through, sorry, you only get
one billion more. I’ll tell Lysander the money is just sitting in my account for my retirement. He won’t investigate if he thinks I
haven’t spent it. Why you don’t understand such a simple concept?”
Sensing Thalassa’s impatience, Bruce quickly agreed, “Yes, yes, you’re right. Okay, we’ll do as you say. However, the real estate
agency just called me, saying the housing authority’s system is down so we can’t sign the papers online now. We have to wait
until the system is back up.”
Bruce was worried about losing both the house and a chance to receive an additional two billion.
“Once it’s possible to sign the papers, call me. I’m in a rush.” With that, Thalassa hung up the phone.
As she was negotiating with Bruce, she was relying solely on her mettle. She was trying to create an impression of being in a
powerful position and being favored by Lysander.
If she showed any signs of weakness, Bruce would become suspicious.
Luckily, she managed to hold her ground.
She used Lysander as leverage against Bruce just because of knowing that Lysander would investigate the money issue.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been so furious upon finding out that Bruce had bought a villa for one billion.
He must have been monitoring Bruce’s movements, or he wouldn’t have found out about the house so quickly.
Lysander despised Bruce, so it was impossible for him to remain indifferent when Bruce spent his money.
She was tempting Bruce on one hand and threatening him with Lysander on the other, letting him know the seriousness of the
situation and that the safest option was to put the house under her name.
Knowing Bruce’s greed, she was sure he would agree.
She had won her bet.
However, she hadn’t expected the housing authority’s system to crash.
Thalassa took a deep breath to relax her tense muscles, then composed a text message to send to Lysander.
“I’ll handle Bruce myself, thank you for your help.”
If Lysander stepped in, it would solidify the accusation that she was using Lysander’s money to fund Bruce.
But if she handled it herself, that could naturally clear up Lysander’s misunderstanding.
Aside from not wanting to be misunderstood as using Lysander’s money to support a selfish man like Bruce, she was more
motivated by the reason that she wanted nothing to do with Bruce.
This time, she wanted to show Bruce that she and her mother were not to be messed with.
If he ever tried to deceive her mother again, she would make him regret it!
After sending the message, Thalassa didn’t rush out. Instead, she chose to wait at home.
While Bruce was settled, she wasn’t sure if Lysander would agree to let her handle this matter herself.
Thalassa was uncertain.
At the Royal Estates.
Petite Atticus was sitting in front of his computer. With his small fingers rapidly typing away, the computer screen filled with
flashing lines of code and
numbers.
