Chapter 723
Charlotte’s harsh words were like a bitter gust of wind that messed up her mood and cast dark clouds over her day.
Initially, Charlotte had wanted to dig up some dirt on Thalassa, specifically regarding a rumor that she had fallen pregnant during
her sophomore year at college.
However, her attempts to find any substantial information were thwarted. It was as though all details had been deliberately
erased from existence. Even the most experienced investigators were left scratching their heads.
How could Thalassa, a mere janitor, have the power to keep such a secret under wraps?
The only lead she had was a vague comment from an online acquaintance who claimed to have been Thalassa’s college mate.
However, the anonymous user feigned ignorance when pressed for more information, only revealing they were aware of
Thalassa’s pregnancy, which led to her dropping out of college. The trail went cold after that.
There was no trace of where Thalassa went after dropping out of college. She couldn’t find out if she had gone to a hospital for
an abortion or if she had given birth. It was clear that a powerful force was keeping the information under wraps.
Charlotte was left to wonder if Thalassa had been backed by
a
powerful entity from the very beginning.
Determined to expose Thalassa’s dark past, Charlotte was eager to share her findings with Lysander, hoping that he could
uncover more with his
resources.
After being informed that Lysander had left the Sinclair Group office for the day, she headed over to Royal Estates.
Upon her arrival, she saw the nanny car returning and quickly followed it inside the compound.
She expected to see Lysander stepping out of the nanny car. Instead, the family butler, Fitch, emerged, carefully helping a line of
four children out of the
vehicle.
Charlotte was taken aback. She quickly approached Fitch, glanced at the children, then turned to Fitch again, asking, “Fitch,
whose children are these?”
Before Fitch could respond, she accused him of turning the mansion into a daycare center for his grandchildren.
Fitch attempted to explain, but Charlotte was insistent. She stormed off, threatening to report him to Lysander.
Just then, Lysander appeared in the doorway. His tall, lean figure filled the entrance. He was clearly annoyed with all the
commotion.
Upon seeing Lysander, Charlotte rushed over and began complaining about Fitch’s “terrible” behavior. Lysander dismissed her
concerns with a cold glance, reminding her that the affairs of Royal Estates were none of her concern.
Feeling slighted, Charlotte pouted. She wasn’t the lady of the house yet, after all.
Blaming Thalassa for her current predicament, Charlotte decided to reveal her findings. “Lysander, I’ve discovered something
important. I found out that Thalassa dropped out of college during her sophomore year because she was pregnant.”
As she finished speaking, she found herself on the receiving end of Lysander’s icy, piercing gaze.
