Chapter 769
“If you drink with that man and end up at a hotel, do you think your reputation will still remain clean?” Alaric’s stunning eyes bore
into her. There was a hint of sternness under his teasing tone.
Hertha’s heart skipped a beat as it dawned on her, “You’re saying...the man earlier drugged the drinks?”
“You’re as bright as a blackened light bulb!” It took him explaining it so explicitly for her to get it!
Alaric shot her a look of disdain and turned to leave.
Hertha was still in shock and her heart was pounding with dread. If it wasn’t for Alaric, she would have been done for.
Seeing Alaric walking away, she rushed forward to grab his hand.
“Let go!” Alaric shook her off.
Hertha’s previously fierce expression turned into that of a starstruck fan. She no longer controlled the flutter in her heart and let
her yearning for him shine through.
“Alaric, I was mean to you earlier. I’m sorry, it was my fault. Please don’t be mad at me.”
She weakly held onto one of his fingers and swayed it gently. She looked coquettish but she was mostly worried that he would
ignore her.
“I’m not your boyfriend. I couldn’t care less about being mad.” Alaric pulled his finger away from her.
“I’m sorry, okay? I was too harsh on you earlier. If it wasn’t for you today, I would have ended up being some old man’s trophy or
someone’s pawn. Can I have a chance to thank you, please?”
Alaric glanced at her, “And how do you plan on thanking me?”
“Uhm, what do you like?” Hertha asked after some thought.
Before Alaric could answer, her eyes lit up as she thought of something. Holding back a smile, she said, “You’re a ladies’ man,
right? I’m not wrong, am I?”
Wasn’t he known to be a charming playboy?
Women were his favorite treat.
Alaric stared at her barely contained excitement and had his guard up, “What are you planning?”
“Since you’ve saved me twice, I guess I’m yours now. Tonight I’m all yours. How’s that for a surprise thank you?”
Hertha’s large round eyes sparkled as she looked at him, full of anticipation.
Alaric took a step back, shocked. He had never been scared of a woman before, this was a first.
He was starting to fear this feisty woman..
“Hertha, can’t you think of anything else?”
“What else should I think of? All I can think about is you.” Hertha stumbled forward, wrapping her arms around his; her face
nuzzled
against his arm.
The sleeves of Alaric’s shirt were rolled up, and her warm, even hot cheek against his arm sent a shudder through his heart.
He extended his other hand to pull her away, “Hertha, you’re drunk, stop making a scene. Have some dignity; if not for yourself,
then for me!”
Hertha clung onto him, not giving him the chance to pull her away, “I’m offering myself to you as a thank you; take me away!”
Alaric’s breath hitched. He wondered if she was really drunk or just pretending.
He was about to pull her away by the collar of her dress when a familiar male voice rang out, “Hertha, is that really you?”
Alaric turned to look at the person. He stopped in his track as he saw a familiar face.
