Chapter 803
She stood a short distance from the car, hesitant to approach.
Just then, the car window rolled down, revealing Lysander’s strikingly handsome face.
He was sitting in the driver’s seat, his long hands gripping the steering wheel as he looked at her. “Get in.”
Thalassa hesitated for a moment before quickly moving to the car, pulling the door open and climbing in.
She settled into the back seat, and immediately noticed three gift boxes on the seat beside her. She recognized them!
Looking closer, she realized they were the gifts she bought for Leopold.
There was no mistaking it.
Even if Lysander had bought identical ones, it was unlikely that all three boxes would be the same. What were the odds?
Had Lysander been to Leopold’s hospital room and taken the gifts?
Why would he do that?
Confused and sensing something was off, Thalassa didn’t dare to question it. She simply held her breath and slowed her
breathing.
Lysander started the car and drove off.
The car drove along the smooth, asphalt road. The atmosphere inside was tense.
Thalassa was so nervous that she could barely breathe.
“You visited Leopold today?” Lysander’s deep voice suddenly broke the silence, filling the car and making the space seem even
smaller.
Thalassa’s heart pounded as she sat up straight. She didn’t deny it. “Yes, I went with Mr. Ethan. He said it was work-related, so I
couldn’t refuse.”
“You personally picked out the gifts. How thoughtful.” Lysander’s voice was low, seemingly no different from his usual tone. But
his intrinsic authority set Thalassa’s heart racing.
She quickly replied, “Mr. Ethan asked me to choose the gifts. I just picked up three random items from the supermarket. It was a
work assignment. I had no choice.”
She had anticipated Lysander’s anger and accusations if he found out she had visited Leopold. So, when she went with Ethan,
she had prepared her
excuse.
What she said was true. Ethan had indeed told her to do so.
The shopping and the visit to Leopold were all part of her job. There were no personal feelings involved.
Lysander glanced at her in the rear-view mirror. She was sitting up straight, her face pale and clearly frightened.,
His eyes darkened. “Don’t see him again.”
Lysander’s words were final. He wasn’t discussing it with her, but ordering her.
Thalassa was taken aback, her tense heart sinking. Her hands, resting on the seat cushion, clenched slightly.
Her breathing became uneven, and after gritting her teeth, she finally couldn’t hold back any longer.
“Lysander, on what grounds are you ordering me what to do and what not to do?” Thalassa’s breath hitched, all the anxiety and
pressure she had been suppressing all day finally bursting forth.
She knew she shouldn’t see Leopold again, and she was prepared not to!
Since she had made up her mind to let him go, she had also completely let go of the past and hoped that both she and Leopold
could start new lives.
But what right did Lysander have to order her around?
Didn’t she even have the freedom to decide her own path?
With a sharp hiss, Lysander suddenly hit the brakes, bringing the car to a sudden stop at the side of the road.
