Chapter 986
“Quadruplets, huh? No wonder you’re similar in size and look alike, but with your own quirks. Heh, you’re too adorable. I’d love to
have such beautiful kids myself one day,” said the lady, who was pushing forty.
She had always prioritized her career over settling down and starting a family; in her mind, career was paramount.
The joy that bubbled in her heart when the four-year-olds spoke to her was undeniable.
While she was tickled by their affection, she also realized that she wasn’t getting any younger. Those four rosy-cheeked,
endearing tots standing before her stirred something tender deep within her.
It seemed that life’s most important things weren’t just about career achievements; marriage and motherhood could be fulfilling
choices
as well.
If she had such lovable children, perhaps coming home exhausted from work wouldn’t be so bad; their innocence and charm
might just be the cure for all weariness.
“If you like kids, you could also have your own little bundles of joy. We’re Mommy’s little treasures, you know.” Dorian said
innocently. The woman had just been contemplating the joys of family life when the child’s words hit her like a lesson. Her smile
froze momentarily, and the ripples in her heart intensified.
Thalassa realized that Dorian’s childlike frankness might have touched a nerve.
She quickly gathered the children to her side, apologizing to the woman, “I’m so sorry, the kids sometimes speak without a filter.
Please forgive any offense.”
“Oh, no offense taken, dear. The kid’s spot on, actually. I’ve been in a bit of a life rut, and his words just cleared the fog for me. I
understand my direction now. You, with your youthful appearance in your twenties, have four adorable little angels already. I envy
you. Here I am, nearly forty, with nothing but a house, a car, and some cash,” the woman confessed sincerely.
Nearing forty, she wasn’t sure if she could still bear children. If she continued to focus solely on work, she might miss her chance
to have a family altogether.
Work never ends, but the opportunity for children has an expiration date.
Suddenly, this lady found herself yearning for a family of her own, charmed to the core by the four little darlings.
“You’re successful and impressive in your own right, which is enviable too. You can start a family whenever you choose,”
Thalassa encouraged.
“Miss, now I know where your kids get their sweet talk from. Your guys are truly optimistic and uplifting, a real inspiration. With
your blessing, I’ll aim to get married this year and maybe have a baby next. By the way, we seem to have a special connection,
so how about we exchange contact info? When I have my baby, I’d love for you to come to the christening party,” the woman
said cheerfully, pulling out her phone.
“Of course,” Thalassa replied warmly. Being friendly by nature, she wouldn’t coldly turn away someone she clicked with.
She reached for her phone, then remembered she hadn’t brought it with her.
“I’m so sorry, I don’t have my phone on me today,” she said apologetically.
‘That’s perfectly fine. Just tell me your number and I’ll save it,” the woman insisted.
After exchanging numbers, the woman introduced herself as Eliza and then jogged away.
Thalassa then ushered the four kids into the car and drove off to the daycare.
Due to the delay in the park, they nearly arrived late, but thankfully, they made it just before the doors closed.
After watching the children enter the daycare, Thalassa got back in her car and headed to Crawley Group.
Despite the previous night’s close call with death, life and work had to go on today.
“Well, Ms. Everhart, you’re quite early today, not a minute late,” Ethan remarked as he passed by the secretarial office, peeking
in with a playful grin.
Thalassa snapped back to reality, meeting Ethan’s easygoing, jesting smile. Clearly, he was oblivious to her abduction from the
night before; otherwise, his tone wouldn’t be só light.
Her kidnapping was orchestrated by Daniel, and Ethan was in no way connected.
His ignorance of the situation wasn’t surprising at all.
