The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet (Thalassa and Elowen)

Chapter 999
Thalassa intuitively realized that something was wrong with the cake the moment Susan instinctively stepped backward.
She knew it. Susan’s warm behavior today was way out of character.
Susan’s eyes darted evasively, but she retorted with forced confidence, “My mom baked that cake. What could possibly be
wrong with it? I saw you skipped lunch, so I was being nice and cutting you a slice. And here you are, accusing me without a
bite. What’s your deal?”
“If there’s no problem, then prove it. Have a bite yourself. Otherwise, how can I be sure it’s safe?” Thalassa stood up and closed
the distance between them. Her demand was clear.
“I told you! I’m not in the mood for dessert. I want my dinner.” Susan blurted out, her face flushing with a mix of anger and
embarrassment.
Yet Susan retreated two steps as Thalassa rose up. It was a clear sign of nervous avoidance.
Thalassa was now certain. The cake that she was being offered was not safe for eating.
“Eating cake before your meal won’t kill you.” Thalassa insisted, pushing the plate towards Susan’s lips.
Susan recoiled, tilting her head back in a desperate dodge.
“Come on, it’s just a slice of cake.” Bruce chimed in, rising to the occasion. He approached with a stern face and took the cake
from Thalassa’s hand.

He glanced at a clearly agitated Susan and then back at Thalassa. He said, “My Susan rarely offers to serve food I haven’t even
had the pleasure to have her serving me anything. She made this, and you don’t want it, I’d count myself lucky to have it.”
Bruce truly adored his daughter Susan. Despite his numerous love affairs, Susan was his only child. Who else would he dote on
if not her? Thalassa watched expressionlessly and said, “If you’re so eager, be my guest.”
With her permission, Bruce eagerly forked a generous piece of the cake and popped it into his mouth.

“Dad...” Susan’s voice cracked with a mix of alarm and horror.
“What’s up?” Bruce mumbled through a mouthful of cake.
Susan’s brow furrowed. She swallowed hard, and a nauseous chill ran down her spine. She stammered, “Nothing. I just realized
I never asked if you wanted anything. From now on, I’ll make sure to serve you more often...
Her
eyes were heavy with guilt as she looked at Bruce.
Hearing her seemingly thoughtful words, Bruce beamed with pride, “That’s all I wish to hear, darling.”
With that, he finished the cake with gusto.
As Susan watched her father consume the entire slice, the contents of her stomach churned violently to her throat. Panicked that
her secret might be revealed, she made a quick excuse to freshen up in the bathroom.
Oh God! Her father had just eaten the very ‘treat’ she’d prepared, and he was thanking her with a blissful smile.
Susan felt a crushing guilt for deceiving Bruce, yet she couldn’t confess.
Thalassa observed the father-daughter charade with a detached coolness.
She saw nothing but hypocrisy and deceit in this family
Since she had already obtained their network IP, there was no reason to linger.
Thalassa turned to leave, “Please enjoy your meal. I’ve got work this afternoon, so I’ll be off.”
Pocketing her phone, she walked away and left behind the facade of familial warmth.
