The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike

Chapter 1043
Warren immediately started the car and headed towards the police station.
Upon seeing this, Amelia asked Warren which police station it was and promptly called Lucas.
Since Lucas had only just reported the case, the police hadn’t yet matched up the information. So Amelia’s call came through
first.
Upon learning that his daughter was at the police station, Lucas quickly expressed his gratitude and hurried to the station.
Amelia and Warren arrived at the police station and saw Nadine. The kid immediately shouted at Amelia, “Ms. Haab!”
Amelia stepped forward, greeted the staff at the police station, and picked up Nadine.
“Do you know how worried your daddy was when you ran off alone?”
“I just wanted to see Aido and visit your house, Ms. Haab, but Daddy was too busy to take me,” Nadine pouted.
“Your daddy is busy with work. If you want to see Aido in the future, you can call me. I will come to pick you up or bring Aido to
see you,” Amelia said.
Nadine’s face lit up with a smile, and she happily agreed.
“Your daddy will be here later. You have to apologize to him and promise not to do this again next time.” Amelia advised Nadine
earnestly.
Feeling embarrassed, Nadine buried her face in Amelia’s arms and nodded obediently. She even playfully rubbed her head
against Amelia as if trying to act cute.
Amelia gently caressed her.
Warren watched the scene quietly from the side. At this moment, they looked like a mother and daughter.
He thought of the times when she had said to him, “Warren, how about having a son and a daughter in the future? A son like you
and a daughter
like me...”

But they only had a son, not a daughter.
She even struggled to give birth to this son in prison!
Warren pursed his thin lips. For the first time, he wished they had a daughter. He would definitely treat their daughter with the
same gentleness if they had one. He would love their children with all his heart.
After a while, Lucas also arrived. Upon seeing Warren at the police station, he was momentarily stunned. But his attention
quickly shifted to his daughter.
Before he could say anything, Nadine cleverly said, “Daddy, I’m sorry! I won’t do this again next time!”
With a guilty expression on her tender little face, Nadine opened her arms willingly and asked her dad for a hug.
Lucas couldn’t find anything to say as he looked at his daughter like that. He had felt an inner sense of guilt towards her since his
divorce. He couldn’t stay angry with her whenever she made a mistake as long as she sincerely acknowledged it and
apologized.
Lucas embraced his beloved daughter and turned to Amelia. “Thank you.”
“Children need to be watched closely. We were lucky to find her this time. Parents would regret it for a lifetime if they couldn’t find
their child,” Amelia said.
“I’ll be more careful next time,” Lucas promised. Then, he glanced at Amelia and Warren again. “You and he...”
“We happened to run into each other, and Mr. York also helped in finding Nadine this time,” Amelia said.
The title “Mr. York” once again grated on Warren’s ears.
“Thank you, Mr. York,” Lucas said and turned to look at Amelia. “Shall I take you home?”

“It’s okay. I’ll send Amelia back.” Warren took a step forward and positioned himself between Lucas and Amelia.
With his imposing presence, Warren exerted an invisible pressure that seemed to keep Lucas from getting even the slightest bit
closer to Amelia.
The atmosphere at the scene suddenly became somewhat awkward.

Amelia hurriedly addressed Lucas, “Lucas, you should take Nadine back now. Mr. York will give me a ride home.”
Lucas hesitated for a moment and said, “Okay. You...” Take care.”
“Okay,” Amelia answered.
After completing the necessary procedures at the police station, Lucas left with his daughter. Warren gazed at Amelia. “You call
me ‘Mr. York’ but call him ‘Lucas’?”
One could easily tell the difference in familiarity.
Amelia looked a little flustered as she faced Warren. “Do you want me to call you by your name too?”
Warren’s face darkened slightly. He pressed his lips together and decided that ‘Mr. York’ would be just fine.
“Are you hungry? How about grabbing something to eat?” He looked at
the time and asked.
“No, I have to go back to the concession stand,” Amelia said, “Thank you for helping me find Nadine today. I’ll head back now.”
Yet, before she could take a step, Warren grabbed her hand. “What’s this? When you needed my help earlier, you were willing to
get in my car. Now that you don’t need me, you don’t even want to get in my car?”
“I didn’t...”

Before she could finish her sentence, he had already taken her hand and exited the police station. He led her to his car and
opened the passenger side door.
Seeing this, Amelia understood Warren’s intention.
It seemed that he was determined to give her a ride back today. Considering that he had helped find Nadine earlier, Amelia
pressed her lips together and got into the car.
Warren drove towards Amelia’s concession stand.
On the way, Warren said, “I don’t think Aiden needs to continue with boxing. Learning more won’t make much of a difference. It’s
mainly for physical fitness. Boxing may not be very useful when it comes to actual situations.”

Amelia thought of what her son had mentioned before this. “So, you took him to some live combat demonstration that day?”
“Strictly speaking, what he saw was a variation of kickboxing. Learning that would be more useful in real-life situations. It would
be enough for self-defense,” Warren said.
After a brief silence, Amelia said, “I’ll talk to Aiden about it. If he’s willing to learn it, I won’t object.”
Hearing this, Warren smiled. “Okay.”
The car fell silent again.
Suddenly, Amelia’s body trembled slightly. She instinctively placed her hand over her liver. She felt a faint, throbbing pain in that
area.
Since her liver transplant, she had been getting regular check-ups every six months. Although her reports were generally
positive, there were occasional episodes of mild discomfort in the liver area.
Amelia gritted her teeth slightly and decided to endure it.

“What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?” Even though she tried to maintain her composure, Warren noticed her distress and
immediately pulled over to the side of the road.
“It’s nothing. It’s just a little discomfort. I’ll be fine in a while,” Amelia said.
Warren’s gaze was fixed on the area she was clutching, and he couldn’t help frowning. “What’s wrong? Is it a pain in the liver
area? When did it start hurting? Is it severe?”
