The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike

Chapter 1266

“Why did those doctors suddenly change their testimonies? Did they have any
contact with someone before?” Riley asked anxiously.

“There was a food poisoning incident in the detention center before. These
people were all sent to the hospital for examination,” the lawyer explained.
Riley's heart sank. She thought, “So, at that time, these people might have
encountered someone, made a deal, and then changed their testimonies
collectively.”

“Could it be Zephyr's doing?”

“Zephyr had said that he wanted to protect Harriet. Was this his method?”

“So, with the current evidence, there's no way to establish Harriet's guilt
anymore?” Riley inquired.

“Unless there is new evidence, it's difficult,” the lawyer replied. “I'm sorry. I
promised to help you before leaving Lommore, but I haven't been much of
assistance.”

“No, you have helped me a lot. Thank you, Mr. Norris,” Riley said. “As for other
evidence, I will try to think of a way. Maybe there will still be a turning point.”
After saying this, she stood up and left the law firm, heading straight to Griffin
Group.

In Bruce's office, Bruce looked at Riley “You came to see me about my brother's
car accident. What else have you thought of?”

“I'm currently involved in a lawsuit with the Summer family. Several doctors
involved in the case changed their testimonies collectively. The lawyer just told
me that once we go to court, Harriet might be released without charge,” Riley
said.

Bruce shrugged indifferently. “Whether she’s guilty or not, I've never cared. If you
expect me to help you get her convicted, then you've got the wrong person. In
Lommore, I'm the least likely person to assist you.”

“It's not for me, it's for Nicholas!” Riley corrected him.

Bruce narrowed his eyes. “What do you mean?”

“The person who planned the car accident was very likely Harriet, or someone
related to her. If Harriet is acquitted, and she goes abroad, it will be difficult to
bring her to justice later.” Riley took a deep breath and showed him a photo.
The picture depicted a woman in waitress uniform, appearing to be around 27 or
28 years old.

“This is a photo you gave me earlier. The woman's name is Jocelyn Howland.
About a month after the car accident, I once saw her at the gate of the Summer
residence, looking for Harriet. Looking back now, when she saw me, her eyes
flickered, and she lowered her head. At that time, I didn’t think much of it.”
Pausing for a moment, Riley continued, “A few days ago, I investigated this. This
Jocelyn resigned three days after the car accident, claiming she made a fortune
in stocks and was going to enjoy her life. However, she never actually opened a
stock account.

“And on the third day after the accident, there was a transfer of 200 thousand
dollars from Harriet's bank account, destination unknown. A month later, another
transfer of 1 million dollars with an unknown destination. Meanwhile, Jocelyn left
Lommore and later became a missing person. Six months later, her body was
found in a town near Lommore.”

“So, you suspect Jocelyn is related to this case?” Bruce asked.

“Don't you find everything suspicious? I checked; Jocelyn only had one younger
brother, but shortly after she was found dead, her brother moved away. I don’t
know where he went,” Riley said. “I hope the Griffin family can help me find out
the whereabouts of Jocelyn’s brother. He might be the only breakthrough now. I
believe, Mr. Griffin, you wouldn't want Nicholas to die without justice, allowing the
real culprit to roam free.”

Bruce tightly pressed his lips together, staring at Riley. “I hope you're telling the
truth. If you're only trying to use the Griffin family to seek revenge, I won't spare
you.”

“If I speak a single lie in front of you, you can take my life anytime. I won't
complain,” Riley said frankly.

This was what kept her going. She valued Nicholas’s life more than seeking
personal revenge.

A week later, Rosalie’s medical examination reports were officially out. The
hospital had a consultation regarding her current condition. The conclusion was
that she could continue with the pregnancy, but she needed to be vigilant,
especially about the fetus’ nutrition absorption and the placental position.

If the placental position became unfavorable, terminating the pregnancy might be
necessary immediately.

This result was much better than what Rosalie had initially anticipated.

“Jon, let's not talk about my pregnancy for now. Let's decide, whether to continue
or not after the

placenta is properly formed,” Rosalie said. If the placental position was not good,
she had to terminate the pregnancy early. Otherwise, if her scar ruptured, not
only would the baby not survive, but she might not survive either.

It was just that if given the chance, she wanted to keep this child.

“Okay,” Jonathan responded, gently holding her hand. “Rosalie, I'm sorry for
making you endure this pain once again.”

Rosalie shook her head. “It's not painful for me. I said this back then, I wanted to
give you a home and have many children together, to make our home livelier and
happier.”

Now, she only hoped that heaven would be merciful and allow her to safely
deliver this child.

“What you said back then, you've already given it all to me,” he murmured,
bringing her hand to his cheek, softly rubbing his face against her palm.

The Youngblood family was no longer as cold and empty as it used to be.
Laughter and joy filled the air every day.

In the future, this family would have more people, more happiness.

The old man’s prediction was wrong after all!

The essence of being human beings lay in vulnerability. It was because of
vulnerabilities that people cared, allowing them to experience a wide range of
emotions.

If one had no vulnerabilities, they would be no different from machines.
“Rosalie, all my happiness is because of you. I only ask you not to let my

happiness disappear, alright?” he whispered softly. It was a plea; a hope.

“It won't disappear. Aren't we planning to accompany each other for a lifetime?”
Rosalie hugged Jonathan tightly, saying so.

Because Amelia was still in the hospital ward, the two of them went to the
inpatient department.

Amelia's complexion had improved significantly, and she could now get out of
bed and walk around. Her diet had also returned to normal.

Due to medication, she couldn't breastfeed the newborn, but she had visited the
neonatal ICU. Through the transparent glass wall, she had seen the baby.

The tiny child appeared much weaker than a normal baby. Tubes were inserted
into their body, which made her heart ache just by looking at it.
