Big Novel

The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike

Chapter 259
Lillian sized Callum up. “Hmm... He looks so well-dressed, like a noble gentleman! No wonder I couldn’t control myself and had
sex with him when drunk. Come to think of it, he has such a hot figure. Though he looks lean, his muscles are quite firm and
strong.” She thought. The longer Lillian looked at Callum, the clearer the image of his body formed in her mind...
Her face blushed instantly at the thought. She quickly lowered her head, trying to stop dwelling on those lustful thoughts.
Callum cast a sideways glance at Lillian and noticed that she was sitting in the corner with her head lowered as if deep in
thought. He wondered what was on her mind.
As he regarded Lillian, Callum’s lips curved up involuntarily.
Then, the director Sylvester of Petra Design Institute No. 2 informed Callum, “We can start now, Mr. White.”
“Okay,” Callum replied with a smile.
At that, Sylvester commenced the meeting. He first introduced Callum to those present, as well as gave a briefing about some of
the projects that were designed by the institute.
Sylvester also didn’t forget to introduce Jade as he continued, “She is the youngest designer in our institute. Not only that, her
father is a well-known designer in the industry, and she has won overseas awards herself. Some of her designs are very
creative. You can take a look if you have time later, Mr. White.”
Jade then immediately stood up. Eager to make a good impression, she faced Callum and said, “Hello, Mr. White. I’m Jade
Leroy. Nice to meet you. I look forward to your guidance in the future.”
“Oh, I know you,” Callum replied lazily.
Jade was pleasantly surprised when she heard this. “He knows me? How could this be? Had Mr/White seen my previous
designs and had taken a liking to them?” she wondered.
Jade’s heart began to flutter, and she started to have butterflies in her stomach.
Lillian, who was seated in the corner, raised her head curiously and directed her gaze to Callum. She somehow had a bad
premonition rising in her, as if something was going to happen.

As if on cue, the words coming out of Callum’s lips next made Lillian’s body stiffen as her premonition became a reality.
“My girlfriend mentioned you before,” Callum said casually.
“Girlfriend?” Jade was stunned and couldn’t help but feel disappointed at Callum’s reply. “I didn’t expect he had a girlfriend.” She
thought dejectedly as if she had lost a precious opportunity, even though she also had a boyfriend.
But the next moment, she wondered who Callum’s girlfriend was. “Is it possible that his girlfriend is someone I know? That’s why
she mentioned me in front of Callum?” she pondered.
“I heard that you and my girlfriend went to the police station yesterday because of your boyfriend. By the way, who is your
boyfriend? I would really like to meet him in person. It seems you thought my girlfriend was interested in him, am right?”
The rest of the room looked toward Jade and Bradley, as well as Lillian, who was still hiding in the corner.
Though Callum didn’t mention who his girlfriend was, it was common knowledge in the institute about the clash between Lillian
and Jade that happened the day before, and the point of conflict was Bradley.
In fact, most of the institute had thought it was true. After all, Bradley was considered one of the eligible bachelors, while Lillian
was just a small potato who came from a humble family and possessed an average appearance. They thought it was normal that
she would be interested in Bradley.
That was why everyone sided with Jade when news of what happened broke out.
They reckoned that although Jade and Bradley kept a low profile on their relationship and not many people knew about them
being a couple, Lillian shouldn’t have tried to interfere.
However, no one expected that Lillian’s actual boyfriend would be Callum, the chairman of White Maple Group.
At that, there was a stark contrast between Callum and Bradley, regardless of whatever aspect they were comparing them to!
If Lillian had a boyfriend like Callum, it was impossible that she would seduce Bradley!
All of a sudden, the gazes of those who initially supported Jade and Bradley changed, and they began to doubt the truth of
Jade’s version of the story.
Jade’s mind was as blank as a piece of paper. Everything that happened was so unbelievable to her. She paused for a long
while before uttering, “You mean Lillian is your girlfriend?”

Her question echoed the thoughts of everyone in the room, though they seemed to know the answer.
“Yeah,” Callum merely smiled. He stood up and walked towards Lillian until he reached in front of her, with the crowd’s curious
gazes following his every move. “Lillian, why don’t you tell me which one of them is Bradley? The one who caused
your dispute with your colleague yesterday? I want to see how outstanding a person he is to have caused such a
misunderstanding.”
Callum’s words clearly expressed he was of the opinion that Lillian was wronged.
Lillian stared at Callum dazedly. She never thought that he would make their relationship public in this way. “Why are you here?”
“I’m here to invest in your project. Didn’t you say you’re facing some issues with funding?” Callum replied, his tone as gentle as
an affectionate lover.
Immediately, many women in the conference room looked at Lillian with envy. They were all lamenting that not many women
would be able to get this kind of treatment in their lifetime.
Sylvester also regarded Lillian with a shocked expression. He had just taken over Petra Design Institute No. 2 as the former
director was unexpectedly laid off. “I thought this was just like any other institute, with Jade being the only one with decent
backing. Who would have expected that Lillian, who never attracted any attention, would be the one with the strongest support,”
he thought.
Lillian was at a loss for words and thought exasperatedly, “I did mention that my project might go down the drain due to
insufficient funding. But I was just venting! I wasn’t expecting him to invest in it!”
“By the way, who is this Bradley that everyone thought you were interested in?” Callum added.
The faces of Jade and Bradley suddenly turned into a dark shade of gray.
Bradley stood up and defended himself. “It’s just a misunderstanding! It’s not Lillian’s fault. My girlfriend took it the wrong way.”
Bradley’s reply had conveniently transferred the blame to Jade. Though Jade felt bitter about it, she refrained from publicly
making a scene.
