The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike

Chapter 272
Gilbert’s expression turned serious, and Chelsea said angrily, “It must be that Rosalie wants to show off intentionally. She’s only
acting this way because Jonathan is showing some interest in her now.”
Gilbert’s anxiety suddenly rose. Perhaps this situation wasn’t as easily resolved as he had thought.
“Dad, since they said they’re busy, let’s go back,” Chelsea suggested while curling her lips.
As soon as she finished speaking, Gilbert’s phone rang. When he answered the call, his face turned pale, and he started
sweating profusely.
Confused, Chelsea couldn’t help but ask after seeing his father end the call in a state of desperation, “Dad, what’s wrong?”
Yet, then, Gilbert raised his hand and slapped Chelsea hard. “Look what you’ve done to our family this time!”
The tax scandal was now beyond concealment. The call he just received was from someone he had painstakingly managed to
get on his side. However, this person told him that their family’s situation would be thoroughly investigated, and no amount of
pleading would help.
This wasn’t just about paying fines and back taxes. If they had to pay these amounts immediately, it would disrupt the company’s
cash flow. With cash flow issues, the entire company would be in jeopardy.
Perhaps only a bank loan could buy them some time, but Gilbert wondered if any bank would actually grant them one. Gilbert
thought about what the Youngblood family’s butler had said earlier.
“Does Jonathan know that the Wallace family was about to face this crisis? Or perhaps... is he one of the masterminds behind
this?” Gilbert thought.
After all, the person with connections had told him earlier that the tax issue could be delayed for another half a month if he found
someone to help during that time.
However, it seemed there was no more room for maneuver now.
At this moment, Gilbert only wished he could strangle his daughter. “This brainless daughter has dragged the Wallace family into
this mess!” he thought.

Meanwhile, in the Youngblood residence, Rosalie had no idea about what was happening outside. She was curled up on the
living room couch, watching the latest TV series.
The Youngblood residence was equipped with a TV that made it feel like a small cinema screen. Watching TV series here felt
like being in a movie theater.
Her days working at the store had improved her mood considerably. Of course, this was also because Aiden’s post-surgery
condition was excellent, and he was making rapid progress. In fact, Rosalie could see his improvement every day during this
time.
“Are you in a good mood?” Jonathan walked over to the couch and sat down beside her. He hadn’t allowed the house staff to
disturb her with the recent events at the Wallace family.
After all, to him, it was a minor issue, and he didn’t want it to spoil her mood.
“Yeah.” Rosalie smiled and shared her joy with Jonathan. “You know what? Aiden can now understand what I’m saying just by
listening. It’s like he’s a genius.”
“A genius?” Hearing this, Jonathan snorted gently. “That sounds a bit like his father.”
“His father?” Rosalie was stunned for a moment, and then her eyes widened in surprise. “Do you know who Aiden’s father is?” “I
do,” Jonathan admitted readily.
Rosalie was stunned. She had been curious about Aiden’s father when she worked at the diner, and why he never showed up
with Amelia. She had also heard some of her colleagues speculate that Amelia must have been unmarried when she gave birth.
She had wondered what kind of person would make Amelia choose to have the child and remain single.
If a woman wanted to have a child unmarried, most probably it would be because the man was significant in her heart.
Otherwise, she would just have an abortion.
“You... How do you know that?” Rosalie was surprised.
Jonathan slightly raised his hand and gently touched a strand of hair on her cheeks behind her ear. “You don’t think I will not care
about your workplace at all, do you? Since you chose to work there, I naturally wanted to know more about it.” Rosalie couldn’t
help swallowing nervously, staring at Jonathan in a daze. She didn’t expect that he would go this far.

Her silence made his eyebrows frown slightly, and there seemed to be a touch of gloom in his eyes. “Don’t you like me doing
this? Do you feel like I’m watching you?”
Rosalie shook her head. “No, I know you’re worried about my safety.”
He looked at her in a daze, thinking, “She understands!” The hint of melancholy in his eyes began to fade, replaced by a joyful
light.
“By the way, what kind of person is Aiden’s father?” Rosalie asked again.
“It’s Warren,” Jonathan said.
Rosalie was once again left speechless. In her memory, she had heard of a Warren, but she wondered if it was the same man
she knew.
“It seems that you know Warren,” Jonathan said.
Rosalie asked, “Is it really the Warren from the York Group?”
“Yeah, that’s him,” Jonathan said.
Rosalie was silent. She had only heard about Warren in the context of a legal case from her time as a lawyer. Warren wasn’t the
plaintiff in the case, but he was a crucial witness. His testimony had led to the conviction of the defendant.
“The defendant...” Thinking of that, Rosalie suddenly felt a chill down her spine as she recalled the defendant’s last name
seemed to be “Haab”.
“Amelia Haab... Could it be such a coincidence? Could it be that Warren had testified against Amelia, who was imprisoned
because of him?” Rosalie thought. The thought of this possibility made her nervous.
She bit her lips and looked at Jonathan. “Do you happen to know if Warren testified against...”
Before she could finish her words, he interrupted, “Warren’s testimony led to Amelia’s imprisonment for three years and six
months.”

Rosalie’s heart suddenly sank, and she felt a bitter taste in her mouth. Amelia, imprisoned because of Warren, was the mother of
Warren’s child. This irony was too much to bear.
“Then you must know what Amelia’s case was.” Jonathan was a little surprised that Rosalie would know Warren had testified
against Amelia, but then he felt it was reasonable. After all, she used to be a lawyer. Before she got into trouble, the legal case
involving Warren and Amelia had garnered quite a bit of attention.
