Chapter 283
But soon, Amelia came back to her senses and took Aiden from Jonathan’s arms. “Thank you. Let me put Aiden on his bed
first.”
With that, Amelia walked into the inner room at the back of the diner with Aiden in her arms.
“Wait for a moment. I’d like to have a word with Ms. Haab,” Rosalie said to Jonathan. She then followed Amelia into the inner
room.
When Rosalie entered, she saw Amelia putting Aiden on the bed and covering him with a blanket.
“Rosalie, thank you for taking care of Aiden today,” Amelia thanked Rosalie.
Rosalie bit her bottom lip slightly and looked straight at Amelia. “Ms. Haab, we met Warren today.”
Amelia froze in place and her face turned pale all of a sudden when she heard Warren’s name. “He..” She broke off and could
not continue.
She didn’t know how to start or ask, but her eyes were full of fear and nervousness.
Rosalie took the initiative to say, “We ran into each other by accident today. Aiden lost his cochlear implant and went to the
restroom alone to look for it. He came across Warren at that time.” She took out Aiden’s cochlear implant from her bag and
handed it to Amelia. “Warren didn’t know that Aiden is his son,” she added.
Amelia’s pupils suddenly contracted. She looked at Rosalie in shock and her heart was in turbulent riot. She had kept Aiden’s
father’s identity to herself. Only a few people were aware of it, but now Rosalie knew about it. “D-Do you know about it?” she
asked nervously.
“Well, Jon mentioned Warren to me before, which reminded me of a case I read back then. I could roughly guess your
relationship with Warren. In addition, Aiden looks a bit similar to Warren,” Rosalie answered. The next second, she felt ashamed.
“I’m sorry...
After all, it was Amelia’s privacy. Nobody wants their tragic past to be discovered by someone else.
Amelia smiled bitterly. “You don’t have to feel sorry for me. By the way, I remember you mentioning you used to be a lawyer and
reading my case files, so you should know what was going on.””
Rosalie nodded her head.
“I was wrongly accused and no one believed me back then,” Amelia said. She was so desperate and painful that even her
mother didn’t believe her at first. Her relationship with her mother had always been difficult, but it had improved after Aiden was
born. Her mother couldn’t bear the thought of her daughter living a hard life.
“I believe you. Although there is no evidence to prove your innocence, I believe you,” Rosalie said. She had experienced what it
was like to be wronged, so she understood how it felt.
She used to believe that the law was always just, which led her to become a lawyer. After being falsely accused, she understood
witnesses might lie and the evidence could be fabricated. Therefore, the law was not always just.
Amelia was touched by her words and her eyes turned red slightly. “Rosalie, thank you for believing me and for not letting
Warren know that Aiden is his son.”
“How much longer do you want to keep Warren in the dark? I heard from Jon that Warren was looking for you everywhere,”
Rosalie asked with concern.
“I won’t let him find me,” Amelia replied. “I won’t tell Aiden everything until he comes of age. It’s entirely up to him whether he
wants to have a relationship with his father.”
After Rosalie left, Amelia looked down at her son who was still asleep. She gently touched his face, her face full of bitterness.
She remembered that Aiden used to ask where his father was using sign language.
But she could only tell him a white lie that his father had gone to heaven.
Amelia didn’t know how much longer she could fool Aiden, but she couldn’t tell him who his father was or where he was. What
should she tell her son? Should she tell him that his father deliberately approached his mother with malicious intentions in the
first place? She still remembered asking him what if she was pregnant with his child and he told her that she did not qualify to
have his child.
Aiden knew that his father never wanted him in the first place.
Warren had never loved her. It was wishful thinking to expect him to love her back. After realizing his true intention of
approaching her, she was too stupid to hope to change his mind with her love. As a result, she became even more
miserable because of him.
If she hadn’t been pregnant, she would not have been able to survive in prison.
Aiden finally met his father today. Amelia did everything she could to keep them apart and even moved away from Sloummont.
But she didn’t expect that they would still run into each other.
Fortunately, Warren didn’t recognize Aiden.
Aiden turned over and smacked his lips as if he was having a sweet dream.
After pulling up the blanket for Aiden again, Amelia took out her mobile phone and Googled Warren. The next second, news
about him was all over the page.
Amelia’s heart skipped a beat. As expected, Warren came to Strico. He came here for an investment project based on the news,
so he might have to stay for a while.
Based on his work, Warren might stay in Strico for a short or long period. It could be a week, two weeks, or several months. He
would visit Strico regularly in the future if he had some important projects to invest in here.
Living in the same city, there was always a higher chance of running into each other.
Amelia thought she should try her best to avoid Warren in the future. Only when Warren left Strico could she feel at ease.
Amelia’s gaze fell on a photo in the news shown below. Irene stood beside Warren and held his arm intimately in the photo,
looking extremely happy.
They looked like a perfect match. Others thought they were made for each other, but no one knew another lady was so hurt and
desperate because of them that she considered suicide countless times.
She purposefully avoided viewing any news concerning Warren and Irene over the last three years. She still felt spiteful and
loathe when she saw their closeness once more.
However, seeing such an intimate photo of them left Amelia with nothing but calmness.
