The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike

Chapter 500
It was because he had other things to care about..
However, Calvin was willing to do it.
He was willing to do such extreme things for Rosalie as if he cared about only Rosalie.
After Lucas left, Rosalie continued to stand there in a daze, her mind replaying what Lucas had just said.
“Calvin almost killed Aubrielle because of me? How could it be possible? If it were in the past, he cared about me because he
thought I was the person he was looking for. However, Fiona is by his side now; why did he...” she wondered.
The scene from the previous day at the police station appeared again in front of her eyes. He said he loved her with a serious
expression.
Just like when he was a child, with the same serious expression, he told her he would definitely find her and treat her well.
Even after all those years, his serious expression had never changed.
When Rosalie got off work, Calvin stopped her as soon as she walked out of the building.
“How about having dinner together? After all, we were in a hurry yesterday,” he said.
Rosalie looked at Calvin in a daze and remembered what Lucas said. She thought, “Did he really almost kill someone for me
yesterday?”
She couldn’t even imagine what he looked like at that time. After all, he often gave the impression of alienation.
It was like not allowing others to approach him easily.
“Or, do you want to talk to me here?” Calvin continued.
Only then did Rosalie realize that there were already many people looking at them. After all, Calvin was a man who drew
attention regardless of his exceptional status.
There were a number of her law firm colleagues among the audience of onlookers.

Rosalie predicted that the rumors about her and Calvin would circulate in the office once more the following day.
“Let’s go somewhere else,” Rosalie suggested. After all, she didn’t want people staring at her like she was a circus animal.
Originally, she just wanted to find a place to talk with Calvin. However, Calvin said he was hungry and insisted on finding a place
to sit down for dinner, so in the end, Rosalie decided to go to a diner near her rental home.
She would frequent that diner when she did not feel like cooking. The food was delicious and reasonably priced.
“I hope you don’t mind eating here.” For her, that place was affordable for her current income.
Of course, she knew that Calvin would pick a high-end restaurant if she had asked him to make dinner plans.
However, she didn’t want to owe him anything, not even money for dinner.
“Of course, I don’t mind. I’m fine with any place you choose.” Calvin gracefully pulled out the chair and sat down.
Even if it was just a simple square table and ubiquitous dining chair, they looked indescribably elegant once Calvin sat at the
table.
Even the diner appeared to have become more refined.
Several women in the diner cast their looks at Calvin. Rosalie suddenly regretted having brought Calvin there.
“Maybe I should’ve brought him to a diner with private rooms,” Rosalie pondered.
After ordering a few dishes, Rosalie looked at Calvin and said, “I heard that after I disappeared yesterday, you did your best to
find me. Thank you.”
“But I was not able to do anything to help you, was I?” Calvin felt a little depressed.
“Anyhow, I’m grateful.” Rosalie paused and looked at Calvin seriously. “You said you would wait for my answer yesterday, so I
will answer you now. I don’t love you, so please don’t waste your time on me.”
Calvin raised his eyebrows slightly. It was the first time he had been completely turned down by a woman.
She had turned him down both times, whether it was when he had mistakenly recognized her back then or now that he was in
love with her.

“Did you turn me down because of Jonathan?” he inquired calmly as if her rejection earlier had no impact on him.
“No.” Rosalie shook her head.
Even if Jonathan didn’t say anything, she would still turn Calvin down.
After all, she was already very tired of romantic relationships and couldn’t fall in love again.
“Is it because I used to have too many girlfriends that you think I am not a faithful partner?” he inquired once more.
“As you mentioned, you used to have a lot of girlfriends. Those women are either stunningly beautiful or exceptionally talented.
They have something unique about them. Why bother coming to me?” Rosalie questioned.
Loretta, too, was quite attractive. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been able to land some minor roles in succession over the years.
Calvin laughed self-deprecatingly. “Then you should know that, to me, they were just substitutes. I had only seen them as
emotional sustenance. Because I wanted to find that person so much, as long as they had similar features, I would let them be
my girlfriend.”
His dark eyes were fixed on her while he spoke. “But as you said before, it will not matter how many substitutes I find if I truly
miss that person. I have been trying to find a substitute, but that has only made my feelings stronger.”
Rosalie felt guilty when he looked at her. It appeared as though he had seen something through her.
“No, that’s impossible! He wouldn’t know that I was the little girl back then. With Fiona’s personality, she will never take the
initiative to say it. She will most likely keep it hidden for the rest of her life,” she thought.
Moments later, she pursed her lips and piped up, “Didn’t you already find the person you were looking for?”
“Yes, I found her,” he replied. “Because I found her, I’m even more certain that you are the one I love.”
He finally understood that his initial obsession was only a misconception once he actually met the person he had been searching
for. His heart never skipped a beat when he looked at Fiona.
He could think of her as his savior, but he would never fall in love with her.
Rosalie was the only one who could make his heart skip a beat.

No matter how many gorgeous and talented women he was surrounded by, how many girlfriends he had, or how stunning a
woman was, he would never again feel the same way he did when he was facing Rosalie.
Rosalie’s smiles, whether they were cold or indifferent, were seared into his memory.
Rosalie bit her lip uncomfortably and said after a while, “Isn’t this just your illusion? Similar to how you mistakenly believed I was
the person you were looking for, now you misunderstand that you have fallen in love with me.”
Calvin suddenly chuckled, “Rosalie, is the fact that I love you so unbelievable that you have to doubt it?”
Hearing that, Rosalie held her breath.
