The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike

Chapter 512
In Gunner Group, she couldn’t control where Calvin wanted to go.
In Gunner Group, Calvin couldn’t control where Rosalie went. So, when Calvin followed Rosalie to the company’s Legal
Department, the entire department was astonished. The department head respectfully led them into the meeting room and
nervously took the documents from Rosalie’s hand. He smiled awkwardly, “Thank you for your trouble. Next time, you can just
call, and we can send someone to pick up the document.”
After all, Calvin accompanying a woman clearly indicated her importance in his eyes.
Even the department head couldn’t help but wonder if this woman was the one Calvin had mentioned in the interview.
When the interview came out, the entire company was shocked. Many people speculated about who Calvin could love.
Even though he had a string of girlfriends in the past, he had never used the word “love” with any of them.
So, many privately discussed whether someone like Calvin could truly fall in love with anyone.
No one knew Calvin would say that in the interview.
“Please take a look. Is this the document you need?” Rosalie reminded.
The department head checked the document. “Yes, this is the document we urgently need.”
“I’ve delivered the document, so I’ll be on my way,” Rosalie said as she turned to leave.
Calvin suddenly grabbed her arm and asked, “Leaving so soon?”
“Mr. Gunner, I’ve completed what I came here for,” Rosalie replied.
“But I still have a lot to say to you,” Calvin said.
When he saw the situation, the head of the Legal Department discreetly left the meeting room and closed the door behind
him.
Rosalie looked at the man in front of her with some exasperation.

“When Jonathan came the other day, there were many things I didn’t get a chance to say to you,” he said. “Would something to
drink?”
“No, thank you. If you have something to say, please go ahead,” she replied..

Her cold demeanor made him furrow his brows slightly. “Are you treating me this way because you still love Jonathan?”
“I don’t love him,” she denied.
“Then why are you being so distant with me?” he asked. “Do you know that right now, you seem to be desperately implying that I
shouldn’t fall in love with you?”
Rosalie was taken aback and looked at him with surprise.
“What’s wrong? Did I say something wrong? Do you not want me to fall in love with you?” He bent down, his dark eyes almost
level with hers.
Her heart skipped a beat, and his gaze seemed to see right through her.
“Calvin.” Rosalie took a deep breath. She didn’t address him as “Mr. Gunner” this time but used his first name. “Yes, I hope you
won’t fall in love with me. Right now, I just want to live a peaceful life. I don’t want to play any more love games.”
“But I’ve never considered falling in love with you as a game,” he said seriously. “If you feel that I haven’t been serious enough,
then please tell me what I should do for you to believe that I’m serious.”
She bit her lip slightly. “I’m tired. I really don’t have the energy to love anymore.”
“In that case, let me love you. When you have the energy in the future, you can love me back. I just want you to stop rejecting
me outright,” he said.
She looked at him, confused. “Why do you insist on pursuing me? I have no family background, I’ve been to prison for three
years, and I’m not even the person you’ve been looking for.”

The second half of her sentence was said with a touch of guilt.
“Yes, why does it have to be you?” Calvin mumbled. He raised his finger and gently touched her cheek.
She instinctively tried to avoid his finger but was captivated by his gaze. In his dark eyes, there was self-deprecation and an
unquenchable longing.
“Just as you said, you have no family background, you’ve been to prison for three years, and you’re not the person I’ve been
searching for all these years. If people can choose who to fall in love with, then indeed, there are many better choices around me
than you. But...” He paused, his finger gently tracing her eyebrow.
“Since you’re like this, I love you even more. It means that I love you for who you are, regardless of anything else. You asked me
why it has to be you, and I can’t give you many reasons. All I know is that I feel distressed when I see you hurt. When I find out
you’re missing, I feel anxious. And when I realize you might be in danger, I feel afraid. Isn’t that proof enough that I love you?”
Rosalie felt as if her throat was constricted. Faced with his words, she didn’t know how to respond.
“If you truly don’t love Jonathan anymore, can you give me a chance?” he asked, his voice low and cautious.
It was only now that Rosalie suddenly seemed to come to her senses. She stepped back, avoiding his touch. “But Calvin, I won’t
fall in love with you, so there’s no need for this chance.”
His hand felt empty. He gently closed his fingers and gave a self-deprecating smile. “In this world, only you would repeatedly
reject me. But now, you’re so certain that you won’t fall in love again. Isn’t that a bit hasty?”
Speechless, she wondered, “Could it be that in the future, I might fall in love with this man? But why does the face of Jonathan
keep appearing in my mind right now? If I have concealed the truth about being the girl he has been searching for all these years
because of Jonathan, I continue to conceal it now, hoping he won’t be fixated on me. He is my loyal companion, Cal, who has
been with me through thick and thin and has kept his promise for so many years. He had searched for me for so long. If I can’t
give him the love he seeks, I hope he finds a woman worthy of his sincere affection rather than wasting his time on someone like
me, who is scarred and incapable of loving anymore.”
Fiona arrived at the floor where the CEO’s office was located, hoping to see Calvin. However, she was intercepted by his
secretary. “Ms. Haberly, Mr. Gunner is not in his office right now. If you’d like to see him, please wait outside momentarily.”
