Chapter 575
While Fiona was still deep in thought, a voice suddenly came from the lounge. “What are these?” The voice belonged to the
mall’s cleaning lady.
Then, another voice added, “These... What are these photos about? Oh my gosh, they’re so disgusting!”
“Photos?” Fiona thought.
Fiona shuddered as it struck her that she had tricked Joseph into trading photos with her that day.
Fiona did not follow Joseph into the lounge after she drugged him as she was outside calculating the time for the drugs to take
effect.
Originally, she wanted to retrieve the photos when Joseph and Rosalie were found out. However, it did not occur to her that
everything would be contrary to what she had expected due to the sudden incident. Thus leading to her completely forgetting
about the photos.
Fiona hurried into the lounge, only to see many people looking at the photos in their hands.
Suddenly someone said, “Hey, isn’t this Fiona Haberly?”
“Come on. It can’t be her.”
“Look! There are still intimate photos of her with this unattractive man. Wait a minute. He looks like the one carried out by the
stretcher just now!”
Fiona trembled with anger. She had put in a lot of effort in designing her plan. Yet, Rosalie did not end up humiliated. On the
contrary, she was the one who suffered instead.
She could not accept the outcome.
In the meantime, other than Fiona, another woman was also trembling all over.
It had never occurred to Maisie that the woman she relentlessly bullied in prison would be taken away by Calvin in such a
protective way.
Whoever could tell how protective Calvin was over Rosalie.
“Hasn’t Rosalie been in prison before? How could she be with Calvin? What the hell is going on?” Maisie thought.
Maisie was still unable to wrap her head around the issue. However, she could not help but be more afraid and worried that
Rosalie would ask Calvin to take revenge on her due to the way she had treated Rosalie in prison.
The thought of that made Maisie want nothing more than to slap herself and wish she had not appeared in front of Rosalie that
day.
Meanwhile in the police station, Rosalie had just finished recording her statement.
She was attacked by Joseph as soon as she arrived at the lounge. Instinctively, she sprayed him with the pepper spray in her
bag. Taking advantage of his lack of sight, she drew her shoelaces from her sneakers to tie Joseph’s hands.
With that, she attempted to dial 911.
“Why didn’t you contact me?” Calvin asked.
“I don’t... have your contact information,” Rosalie replied. She felt rather uncomfortable under his gaze.
Calvin was taken aback. His past girlfriends had always taken the initiative to get his phone number. Yet, as he recalled his
interactions with Rosalie, he was the one to approach her every time. It seemed that she had yet to take the initiative to
approach him.
The only time she approached him was during the charity banquet. She went looking for Calvin as she wanted him to
accompany her to find Warren.
Calvin pursed his thin lips and suddenly took Rosalie’s phone from her. He then quickly clicked on her contact list and added his
number as he created a new contact name.
“You can just call me whenever you feel like you need help. It doesn’t matter what it’s about,” Calvin said as he returned the
phone to Rosalie.
Rosalie was about to reject, but her words of rejection were swallowed into her stomach as she saw Calvin’s serious expression.
Somehow, the phone in her hand seemed to become a little heavier than before.
Let’s go. I’ll send you home first. I’ll find out what happened today,” Calvin declared. “I won’t let you be framed for nothing.”
“Actually, the police will investigate it since we have already made a report,” Rosalie replied.
“I can’t feel at ease if the police are the only ones investigating this,” Calvin added. He was the type to eliminate any
immediate danger if he were to find out that anyone was out to hurt him. “I won’t let go of those who try to hurt you!” “What if
Fiona was the one who tried to hurt me? Would you still stick to your words?” Rosalie suddenly asked.
Calvin’s body stiffened for a moment. It was the worst-case scenario for him, and he did not want to imagine it happening. He
could implement severe punishments on others and make them pay a thousand times more for whatever they did.
But Fiona... After all, she was the one he had missed for 20 years. Moreover, she was the one who saved his life when he was a
child!
If possible, he wanted to assure Fiona a lifetime of wealth and safety..
Rosalie could not help but give a wry laugh upon seeing Calvin’s reaction. “Pretend I didn’t say it.” With that, she walked out of
the police station.
At that moment, one of her sneakers had shoelaces, while the other did not. Thus, her pace of walking was naturally slower
than usual.
However, when she was on the steps outside the police station, the sneaker without shoelaces was sent flying forward.
Rosalie yelped at the sudden incident. Just as she was about to walk down the steps to pick up her sneaker, a figure was faster
and picked it up instead.
Calvin then took the sneaker and walked up to her. He squatted down and carefully placed the sneaker in front of her foot.
He even carefully pressed on the sneaker to keep it in place as she inserted her foot into it.
“Thank you,” Rosalie said.
“You’ll lose your sneaker if you continue walking with a sneaker without shoelaces,” Calvin said as he stood up.
Before Rosalie could react, he had already picked her up and walked toward his car.
Rosalie was startled. One of Calvin’s arms was still wrapped with gauze, and thus she piped up hurriedly, “Your hand is injured.
Quick, put me down!”
“It’s just my wrist. It’s not as if my entire arm is broken. Don’t worry. I can still carry you like this,” Calvin insisted.
“It’s still a big no. What if you accidentally use your wrist? What if it only worsens the damage done to your wrist? It’ll only make
recovery more difficult. Fractures are not to be taken lightly.” Rosalie said frantically.
In the past, she had neglected her broken finger and was thus left to suffer with the after-effects of said injury.
However, her anxiousness only made Calvin smile. The smile somehow turned the permanently etched indifference and distant
look on his face into pure happiness that belonged to a young man.
“You’re worried for me. That’s nice,” he said.
Dumbfounded, Rosalie asked, “What’s so nice about that?”
“It means that I have some weight in your heart. Even if it’s close to insignificant, that still means I’m in your heart,” he justified.
Rosalie’s breath hitched at that. She was unable to refute... as he was Cal! The Cal who shared her hardships!
