The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike

Chapter 607
As Fiona spoke, tears streamed down her face. While some of it may have been part of her act, there was genuine fear in her
eyes. If Calvin were to believe Rosalie’s claims, Fiona believed her life would be ruined.
Fortunately, Calvin didn’t believe what Rosalie said in the end.
Rosalie kept her gaze on Calvin. “Do you truly see me as someone who would resort to deception and take on another person’s
identity just to help another person?”
Her voice was less intense than before as if she were just asking a serious but simple question. But his heart suddenly panicked.
He didn’t understand what he was panicking about.
It felt like the closeness he had been building with her was now slipping away, and all because of Lucas, a man he had never
paid much attention to before.
In his impression, Lucas was just an average-looking, utterly ordinary person!
“Is Lucas so important to you?” He asked instead of answering.
“I don’t want him to be wrongly accused of something he hasn’t done,” Rosalie said.
“We can only determine if he’s being wrongly accused or not in court. Since you believe he’s innocent, why don’t we let the judge
decide,” Calvin responded with a cold tone.
“So, you won’t let him go, will you?” Rosalie pursed her dry lips and suddenly felt disconnected from the man in front of
her.
He could be both gentle and cold. Lillian had once mentioned that online comments about him described him as both
affectionate and ruthless. When he decided to be ruthless, he could be the most cruel and unforgiving person.
She had forgotten that Calvin was the scion of the entertainment industry, and she had mistaken him for the Cal she
remembered.

Then she heard him say in a cold voice, “It’s not a matter of whether I can let him go. He has done something wrong and must
be punished by the law.”
At that moment, she felt like her heart was plunging into the abyss.
Rosalie left the ward, leaving only Calvin and Fiona in the ward.
Fiona wiped her tears with a tissue while saying, “Calvin, you... Please don’t be mad at Rosalie. I merely want to bring Lucas to
justice, but I don’t want you two to argue or fight for my sake. I can drop the charges. I’m willing to endure the injustice for your
sake.”
But Fiona’s performance didn’t arouse any pity from Calvin. Calvin’s eyes remained cold as he stared at Fiona. “Did Lucas really
assault you on that day?”
Fiona’s eyes suddenly widened as if she had been unjustly accused. “I will never make light of such matters, no matter what!
Just because I’ve been married, it doesn’t mean I’m not a woman of integrity. Calvin, how can you doubt me?”
No matter how much Fiona tried to convey her sorrow and distress, Calvin simply regarded her with a cold gaze, as though he
had seen through her.
Fiona felt a chill under his intense stare and said, “You... Why are you looking at me like this?”
“Do you remember what you said when you parted with me in the hospital as a child?” he asked abruptly
“What?” Fiona blinked her eyes and said, “Of course, I remember. Back then, I gave you a small bracelet of mine. I also said that
we should consider it a keepsake, and when you come to visit me in the future, you should bring this little bracelet with you. If
there ever comes a day when you come a bit late, we’ll each have an identical little bracelet. Even if we change our appearance
as we grow up, we would still be able to recognize each other.”
Deliberately, Fiona added, “I recall, at that moment, I was watching a TV show. The main characters in the drama each had half
of an emerald pendant and could recognize each other with it. So I also follow suit.”
Hearing this, Calvin couldn’t help but wear a bitter smile. He thought, “What am I thinking? Do I honestly expect Rosalie to be
telling the truth? Am I expecting the girl who once saved me as a child, the person I have missed all these years, to be
Rosalie?

In reality, it was Fiona all along! Even though Fiona wasn’t quite what he had imagined, at times appearing greedy and vain,
always wanting to reap benefits from him, it was Fiona who had saved his life back then.
Besides, Fiona could recount the details of their childhood encounter.
“Yes, it was you,” Calvin murmured.
“Of course, it was me. Calvin, please don’t tell me you believed what Rosalie said earlier. She only said that to save Lucas!
She knew that if you believed her, you’d agree to anything she asked. If you want me to drop charges against Lucas, I... I’m
willing to do that.”
As Fiona spoke, she wore an affectionate expression.
Calvin-pressed his lips together into a thin line and gazed at Fiona, as though he was contemplating about something.
Fiona’s heart raced, yet she concealed her nervousness on the surface and showed a look of grievance. She bit her lower lip
and stammered, “Calvin, do you... do you truly not believe me? Besides, you were the one who came to me back then. Before
that, I had no idea the little boy I saved was the Gunner family’s eldest son!”
Calvin let out a sigh in his heart. Indeed, he had tracked down Fiona through various clues, and those childhood photos of Fiona
were an exact match to the little girl he had encountered back then.
The photos, bearing the marks of time, were undeniably authentic!
Hence, Fiona was really the little girl he was looking for. Rosalie had made up such a lie to save Lucas.
“Fiona, I hope you are not lying to me,” Calvin parted his lips and said.
“How could I lie to you?” Fiona tried to calm down and suppress the fear in her heart.
As long as everything unfolded as per her plan, with Calvin and Rosalie growing apart or even breaking up due to Lucas, she
was confident that she could secure the position of Mrs. Gunner in the future.
Rosalie’s mind was a mess when she left the hospital.

It turned out that it was so difficult to find a person who believed in her unconditionally! Back then, she had allowed Fiona to take
her place and even deceive Calvin effortlessly. Now, it was time for her to face the consequences.
It was just that Lucas shouldn’t be the one to bear the consequences brought about by her actions.
Now she finally understood what Fiona’s purpose was! Lucas’s case had only served as a catalyst.
