The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike

Chapter 916
“Yeah,” Callum answered.
“But you don’t look well.” While speaking, Lillian habitually tried to reach out and touch his forehead.
However, the next moment, Callum’s expression abruptly changed, and he swept Lillian’s hand away instantly.
Lillian was stunned for a while as her hand froze in the air. Callum, too, appeared taken aback, and then he said rather weakly,
“I... I was a little uncomfortable just now. Don’t touch me.”
That was because Callum couldn’t handle Lillian’s touch at all right now.
Lillian bit her lip and said somewhat embarrassedly, “All right, I got it.” She withdrew her hand, sat straight again, and even
deliberately created a slight distance between them.
Callum opened his mouth, seemingly wanting to explain, but ultimately, he didn’t say anything.
“Just one more time! Once the curse is fully removed after the last session, I’ll tell her everything in detail!” he thought.
Finally, when it was Lillian’s turn, she walked into the consulting room, confirmed her gestational age, and then went for the B-
scan that the doctor ordered.
As the B-scan instrument moved on Lillian’s abdomen, she had a strange feeling out of nowhere.
It seemed that only at this moment did Lillian feel like she was really pregnant.
Before long, the doctor turned to Lillian and said, “Done.”
“It’s done?” Lillian was stunned, not expecting it to be so quick. She didn’t even feel like much time had passed.
“Yeah, it’s done. Tidy your clothes and wait aside for the report.”
Lillian got off the B-scan bed, put on her clothes, and stood aside. After about a few minutes, the doctor handed her the report.
It stated the length of the fetus in her womb, the number of heartbeats per minute, and even included two ultrasound images.
In Lillian’s eyes, these images only depicted a small circle, but that was, in fact, a developing life in her womb.

Lillian took the report, walked out of the B-scan room, and read the few lines of simple words on it repeatedly.
Lillian thought, ‘So, this... is my child?
It has a heartbeat, meaning it already has a life. Am I really going to kill a life?’
Callum approached Lillian and inquired, “How did it go?”
“It’s fine,” Lillian answered, handing Callum the report.
Callum took it, scanned through it, and then glanced at Lillian’s abdomen, seemingly wanting to touch it. However, when
Callum’s hand was just a few inches away from Lillian’s abdomen, Callum stopped again and withdrew it.
Lillian studied Callum in bewilderment, noticing that there seemed to be a sort of yearning in his gaze, yet there was also
suppression and restraint.
“If that yearning is because he wants to touch my abdomen and feel the small life within me, what does that suppression and
restraint mean?” Lillian ruminated.
After they exited the hospital, Callum asked Lillian, “Do you have anything else to do today?”
“No.” Lillian shook her head.
“In that case, I’ll take you home.” With that, Callum ordered the driver to drive to the residential area of the Quinn residence.
Lillian turned her head to the side and looked at the scenery along the way, but her mind was filled with how Callum had waved
her hand away today and the suppression and restraint in his gaze when he wanted to place his hand on her abdomen.

Lillian genuinely couldn’t figure out what Callum was thinking.
Lillian mused, ‘Callum clearly behaves as if he cares about me and wants to be with me again at times, but just now, he seemed
to be resisting me greatly.
He wasn’t even willing to handle my touch!

If so, why even accompany me to the prenatal checkup?
Or... could it be that what he cares about is merely the baby in my womb? If I lose the child, perhaps he won’t even want me
anymore.
Lillian smiled bitterly, thinking, “When did I become so increasingly sentimental? Even now, I’m still hesitating whether to keep
this baby or not.”
The moment the car stopped, Lillian finally came back to her senses and saw that they had arrived at her residential area.
Lillian turned to look at Callum, only to find that he had unknowingly fallen asleep while leaning against the seat.
Evident signs of fatigue still showed on his face even while Callum slept, and faint, dark circles colored his under eyes. It was
obvious that he hadn’t slept well yesterday or even throughout the last few days. A few strands of hair fell on his full forehead,
while his long, black eyelashes, coupled with his handsome face, still made him resemble an angel.
Lillian thought, ‘Callum still looks as good-looking as back then, or even better than before!
I, on the other hand, still become entranced at the sight of him even after five years...
Callum’s eyelashes fluttered slightly as if he could feel her gaze, and his eyes gradually opened.
In a flash, Lillian’s face reflected in Callum’s dark pupils!
“Lillian...” Callum murmured Lillian’s name, his hoarse voice so sultry.
Lillian’s heart couldn’t help but skip a beat.
Callum slowly raised his hand, seemingly wanting to caress her cheek, but right as he was about to touch her, the dazed look in
his eyes became clear. He immediately withdrew his hand, asking indifferently, “Have we arrived at your house?”
“Yeah, we’re here,” Lillian replied, feeling an indescribable disappointment in her heart.
‘Why am I disappointed? Was I hoping he’d touch my face just now?
Oh my God, Lillian Quinn, what are you thinking?’ Lillian scolded herself inwardly.
Hurriedly, she turned around, opened the door, and got out of the car.

Callum, too, opened the door, exited the vehicle, and stopped her. “Lillian, wait another week for me, all right? Just seven days.
I’ll come to you in seven days. There’s something very important that I have to tell you!”
“Are you talking about the maintenance cost of your car?”
Callum froze, seemingly failing to process Lillian’s words.
Lillian continued, “Didn’t you say you were accompanying me to the prenatal checkup today because you wanted to discuss the
matter of lowering the maintenance cost from that time when I hit your car? You didn’t bring it up today, so do you want to talk
about it next time?”
All of a sudden, Callum smiled wryly. “Do you think the maintenance cost is the only important thing between us?”
Callum’s bitter smile made Lillian feel utterly uncomfortable and even a touch of pain as if she had been stabbed by a needle.
“Then, what other important matter is there that you can’t tell me now and can only do so next week?” she demanded.
That was because a week later/was the day when the curse would be completely removed from Callum. As long as he could get
through the last stage, he would be able to give Lillian a proper hug and kiss without feeling severe pain each time he touched
her.
If, unfortunately, Callum did not survive it a week later, he had already hired a lawyer and drafted a will to ensure someone would
manage White Maple Group and set up a fund. The annual income from, those would then be transferred to Lillian’s name so
that she could live however she wanted for the rest of her
