The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike

Chapter 970
If Madeline had asked Jonathan to stab himself back then, he would probably have acted without hesitation.
Carlos walked out of the ward, leaving only Rosalie and Jonathan.
Although the doctor had advised Rosalie to stay in bed and rest as much as possible, at this moment, she got up from her bed
and walked step by step to his bed. She sat on the chair by his bedside and quietly
watched him.
He was still alive, covered in wounds. This was all for her.
Despite his condition, all that mattered to her was that he was alive and well.
Rosalie raised her hand and gently stroked Jonathan’s hand that hung by his side.
His hand was also wrapped with gauze. He had tightly held her hand before, and if he had let go, he could have been safe.
However, in the end, he gave up the lifeline and held her hand with both hands.
At that moment, he gave up his life to be with her.
Rosalie held Jonathan’s hand gently but suddenly felt his fingers move slightly. She turned her head abruptly and saw
Jonathan’s eyelashes quivering. Then, his deep eyes slowly opened.
“Jon...” Rosalie could not help but call out. Even though she did not make a sound at this time, it was still painful for her.
However, she could not help calling his name.
Jonathan’s gaze met Rosalie’s, seeming dazed, and then he suddenly tried to sit up. Since it had only been a while after he was
operated on, he accidentally touched his wound, causing him to furrow his brows. Rosalie hurriedly raised her hands and
pressed Jonathan’s shoulder, urging him to lie down with gestures. Jonathan lay down obediently, then looked at Rosalie and
said, “Why aren’t you lying down? You just had surgery as well, didn’t you?”
Rosalie picked up her phone and typed to Jonathan, telling him that her surgery was minor. After all, the injuries to her neck
caused by Madeline were external, not affecting her airway. However, the wounds were relatively deep, so the stitching process
was slightly challenging.

Compared to her injuries, his injuries were much more severe. After bombarding the doctor with questions before he left the
ward, she discovered Jonathan’s broken rib had almost punctured his internal organs. If it had been a little deeper, it could have
been hazardous.
Rosalie communicated her condition and the doctor’s advice to Jonathan through texts.
Jonathan looked at the lines of words she typed and then fixed his eyes on her face. He raised his hand and reached toward her
face.
[You’re still attached to an IV drip. Don’t raise your hand like that!] Rosalie hurriedly typed to remind him, but his hand still
touched her face.
The coldness of his hand contrasted with the warmth on her cheek.
“His hand is so cold. Is it because of the drip?” Rosalie wondered. Just then, she heard his voice. “I’m sorry...” Jonathan said.
Rosalie was stunned and looked at him in surprise. In truth, she should be the one apologizing. “Sorry, I was wrong.” Jonathan
murmured, “Rosie, it’s my fault. I misunderstood you. What I believed to be true was actually false. You... You never wanted to
leave me because you didn’t love me.” Rosalie’s eyes suddenly widened. Instantly, she thought of what he said during the
explosion in the building when her hand was about to slip from his fingers. “Rosalie, how could you... How could you do this
again? If... If you’re gone, how can I go on...”
She thought, “What does he mean by,’again?’ Does he remember...”
Rosalie’s heart raced, and a hint of disbelief flashed in her eyes. She was afraid she might be overthinking, afraid it might not be
as she imagined.
As if he could see her doubt, he said, “Last time, you chose to jump off the cliff to save my life, but back then, I couldn’t hold onto
your hand and could not save you. This time, I will hold onto your hand, and from now on, I will never let gol”

Rosalie looked at Jonathan in a daze, her eyes welling up with tears. She thought, “Has he regained his memories? He
remembers me falling off the cliff.”

Jonathan struggled to take Rosalie’s hand, placing it against his cheek and gently caressing it.
His movements were slow, but each touch carried infinite tenderness and affection. “Rosie... From now on, I won’t let go of your
hand, and you can’t let go of mine... You know what? If you’re no longer in this world, then there’s no meaning in living for me.”
[But our children, they...] Rosalie typed on the phone with her other hand.
“You want me to live and raise them?” Jonathan asked. “But Rosie, did you know... Back then, you asked me to live well, but for
me, it was the cruelest thing in the world. If it weren’t for hypnosis, I might have gone completely insane.”
[Do you really... remember everything now?] Rosalie typed. Her emotions were in turmoil.
“Yes, I remember everything now. When I saw your hand slipping away from my fingertips, all those memories I had forgotten
rushed back into my mind,” Jonathan said.
Only then did he understand that everything she had said before was true. Rosalie had loved him with her life and never wanted
to leave him.
“Rosie, some people can still live strong after losing their loved ones, but others can’t,” Jonathan said in a low voice. “So, if that
day comes, don’t make such a request of me.”
He wanted to be by her side, no matter where she was.
The end of life was not scary for him.
What he feared was not having her by his side.
Rosalie stared at the man in front of her blankly. Her hand was filled with his warmth.
After a long time, she finally uttered, “Okay.” And her tears rolled uncontrollably.
His love for her was so heart-wrenching.
As compared to Jonathan’s condition, Rosalie’s was much better. He even needed assistance to get out of bed.
