In the memorial hall of the Youngblood residence, Jonathan looked at Lucian’s photo in front of him with a bitter smile on his lips.
“Dad, I’m sorry. I thought I would never let that woman go in my life and want her to atone for her sins with her life, but I still love
Rosalie too much. I don’t want her to suffer. So, Dad, please forgive me!”
He held an ignited candle and bowed respectfully before his father’s photo. He then placed the candle properly and left the
memorial hall.
After returning to the main house, Gary said, “Mr. Youngblood, Mrs. Youngblood said she would be going on a trip with the three
children.”
“Okay. Got it.” Jonathan did not ask any further. At first, he and Rosalie had agreed that if the latter wanted to take the children to
see that woman in the future, then she should never let him know about her plan.
She did indeed do so, by just saying that she was going on a trip.
“Perhaps this way is the best ending after all, Jonathan said secretly in his mind.
Meanwhile, it was time for the children to play outdoors outside the kindergarten. Many children gathered in groups and played
games together, but only Felix sat alone on a small stool outdoors. He was holding a piano score and reading it, looking
somewhat out of place compared to his surroundings.
Felix looked at the piano score in his hands seriously. Rosalie had told the child that she was going to take Jennifer and her
siblings to Lofbury, so Felix had to go to the kindergarten alone in these few days. Although no one knew that Yvette was a
criminal and that no one would discriminate against him, he did not feel like playing with other children.
Felix just wanted to stay by Jennifer’s side, and he knew that what Jennifer truly liked was his piano. Jennifer always enjoyed
playing the piano with him or practicing difficult musical scores together.
In the past, Felix never thought it was difficult to play the piano. The teachers who had given him piano lessons before always
commented that he was a genius in this aspect.
However, playing the piano with Jennifer gave him a sense of fear. Jennifer’s skills of memorizing the scores were no worse than
his, and she even had a better understanding of the music and a better way to perform the piano than Felix.
Felix could even obviously feel that Jennifer was making progress when she stayed beside him.
Felix thought, “If I would be left far behind even by her on the piano skills one day, would I lose even the value of being a toy?”
At that moment, Felix did not notice that someone was secretly holding a camera and taking pictures of him in a corner not far
away.
Rosalie took the three children to visit Connor and Kaylie in Lofbury.
Connor had already prepared guestrooms and asked them to stay in his home for a few days in Lofbury so that Kaylie could
spend more time with her three grandchildren.
Kaylie’s body had now fully recovered. Upon seeing Rosalie, she had gratitude shown in her eyes. “Rosalie, thank you. Thank
you for doing all these for me.”
Rosalie replied, “Mrs. Smuckler, if you miss the three kids in the future, I will take them to see you and Mr. Smuckler, but Jon
won’t...”
“I understand, I understand!” Kaylie said with a choked nasal voice. “It’s already enough for me like this now. I... I don’t expect
Jonathan to forgive and visit me. I know that letting me go is already the greatest concession for him.”
Connor patted Kaylie’s shoulder and comforted her, “Alright, don’t be sad anymore. It’s wonderful that
Rosalie brings the children to see you today!”
“Yes, you’re right. It’s a wonderful thing!” Kaylie hurriedly said as she cheered up. “I have to make delicious food for the children
these days and take them to have fun in Lofbury.”
The three children had very different personalities. Jennifer was the closest to Kaylie, so the child naturally followed around the
adult all the time, while Guillermo and Zaid were relatively quiet while staying in the living room.
Of course, strictly speaking, Guillermo was observing Zaid, while the latter appeared completely absent-minded, as if indifferent
to everything around him.
Rosalie knew that Zaid was different from ordinary children because of his childhood experience, so the child could only take
time to improve things gradually.
At night, Zaid stretched out his hand to Rosalie and said, “Video call.”
Rosalie immediately understood that the little guy wanted to make a video call to Karina with the phone. “Okay,” she replied.
She took out her phone and contacted Karina for a video call. The phone Karina owned was bought by Rosalie before, and the
latter had also ensured that there was enough phone credit for the phone, so there was no need to worry about data usage
issues for the calls.
When Zaid saw Karina on the other side of the video, his empty and expressionless face immediately became livelier. Although
his expression still did not change much, there seemed to be a glimmer of light in his eyes.
Rosalie looked at the change in Zaid with overwhelming emotions. For Zaid, Karina was the only person in the past years who
truly protected him and treated him well.
His behavior resembled a baby animal that instinctively identified the first moving object it saw as its mother, which developed
into a close feeling towards the mother.
Rosalie did not know what would happen to Zaid and Karina in the future. Every time Zaid called Karina “Karrie”, it reminded
Rosalie of Jonathan calling her “Rosie” in the past.
She did not know whether the two children would develop a romantic relationship when they grew up. Based on the current
situation, Zaid might have taken Karina as his everything, but Karina, on the other- hand, might just treat him as her younger
brother.
In the world of affection, what was feared most was one-sided obsessiveness. If Karina did not love Zaid romantically in the
future, Rosalie wondered if Zaid would be willing to let Karina go.
Rosalie was worried but then laughed out at the next moment. She thought, “What am I even thinking? The two children are still
so young now, and they have no clue how the relationship between men and women works yet.”
It was possible that these two children were having a sibling relationship, or perhaps it could naturally develop into a romantic
relationship. Or maybe they might even drift apart gradually as they grew older.
Rosalie thought, “The future is still long. No one can tell what will happen in the future. I was just acting a bit too pessimistic just
now.”
“I’m going to do my homework later. Zeki, you have to behave yourself and listen to Ms. Leighton. I bought some chocolate that
my classmates said was very delicious today. Let’s eat it together when you come
back!” Karina said.
“Okay, I’ll behave myself,” Zaid said. At this moment, he looked like a docile sheep, making it hard to imagine that the child once
had the toughness to knock down a group of older kids.
After the video call with Karina ended, Zaid handed over the phone to Rosalie and obediently climbed onto the bed. He pulled up
the blanket and lay down, ready to sleep.
