Chapter 63
Quickly hanging up the phone, Dorothy hurriedly hailed a cab.
At that time, she treated Everett just like her job, always on call and at his beck and call.
Thinking about her mother’s scolding for her shamelessness, she wished she could have had it if possible.
Once Dorothy arrived at the Bay Residence, she saw Everett still in his suit, looking every bit the business elite, sitting behind
the living room table in a video conference.
Being a CEO wasn’t all fun and games, and it was especially the case for Everett. The success of the Lopez Corporation was all
due to his meticulous work attitude.
Hearing a noise, he glanced towards the entrance and gestured for her to wait
Dorothy didn’t dare to disturb his work, so she bypassed the living room and went into the bedroom.
After some thought, she picked up her phone and dialed Karen.
She told her about her mother asking to meet her boyfriend. But of course, she didn’t mention the marriage or Everett
“So, you just need a guy to put on a show in front of your mom, huh?”
Karen nailed Dorothy’s predicament with pinpoint accuracy
“Yes.”
“Then what are you worrying about? My brother! Ill call him now!
www
As she was about to hang up, Dorothy quickly said, “No way! I know my mom too well. She definitely won’t say anything
Most likely she would have given him a hard time from beginning to end.
Kenneth wasn’t related to her in any way. Why should he have put up with such humiliation?
That was exactly why Dorothy didn’t dare to mention that to Everett
What if her mother scolded him harshly and he decided to terminate the contract?
“Don’t worry. My brother won’t mind.”
“But I won’t be able to face your brother again. I worked several all–nighters on his project. I don’t want my personal issues to
affect work.”
“Then I ask my other guy friends if they can help! Let’s get your mom’s surgery done first, and we can figure out the rest later”
Karen knew she was always stubbom about her principles, hence the added sentence.
Dorothy sighed, “All right, I’m counting on you! Make sure you tell them my mom will definitely give them a hard time and might
even get physical
Judging by the slap she received today, the extent of Bella’s anger was clear
“Relax! By the way, you should put some medicine on your face, hear me? Don’t be so careless.”
“Okay”
After hanging up, Dorothy took a deep breath. She was only going to be able to relax after her mother’s surgery was complete.
Suddenly, the bedroom door was pushed open.
Everett walked in, noticing the abnormality on her cheek at first glance.
“Did your mon hit you?”
Being as sharp as he was, he guessed it right away.
Dorothy instinctively covered the affected area, awkwardly pulling at her lip, “No, I just bumped into something.”
She didn’t want to expose her pain to anyone. Whether it was Everell or anyone else, they had no obligation to receive her
negativity
“You can tell me anything you need.” He strode over, getting closer with each step, causing Dorothy’s heart to race.
Thankfully, Everell was just opening the bedside drawer, looking for anti–inflammatory pain ointment in the first aid kit.
Im fine. It’ll be better by tomorrow!*
“Dorothy, if you keep covering a wound, it won’t heal. It will only get worse.”
He was talking about the wound, and he was talking about her.
