Chapter 1513
“I appreciate your efforts.”
With that, Marcus maneuvered his wheelchair towards the living room in search
of his son.
Sophia had grown used to the man’s indifference towards her. A word of
appreciation, even as minor as this, seemed hard to come by.
She glanced towards the living room, then picked up the ketchup and headed
towards the kitchen.
The presidential suite of the hotel had an open kitchen. As Sophia washed the
vegetables, she could see Marcus and Tristan in the living room.
She watched as the man taught the child how to play with jigsaw puzzles. It all
seemed normal until she heard Tristan say, “Thanks, sir!”
Sir?
Why would Tristan suddenly address his own father as “Sir’?
Sophia cast a curious gaze towards them, only to see Marcus handing the
assembled toy to Tristan. It was a simple, normal interaction, yet she sensed that
something was off.
The toy was something she had bought for Tristan while in M State. Tristan was
an exceptionally smart child who could assemble the toy with a few random
moves. Why was he suddenly asking Marcus to help him?
Something was wrong.
The child had been acting weird lately.
Especially towards her.
While Tristan was not a talkative child and never called her “mommy,’ he never
blatantly rejected her or displayed distaste, aversion, or hostility.
He would listen when she spoke to him earnestly. They could communicate.
But in the past few days, Tristan seemed to ignore her, give her cold looks, show
intense distaste, and even lack basic respect for her.
Just like now, the child referred to her as “the ketchup woman.”
The old Tristan would never address her in such a manner.
She felt as though Tristan was not himself anymore.

She sliced the bell peppers and stir-fried them with eggs.
About ten minutes later, Sophia served two dishes and a soup on the table.
The tutorials she had watched had proven useful.

“Marcus, Tristan, dinner’s ready! You two, go wash your hands and come taste
my cooking.”
Marcus responded nonchalantly and, putting down the toy, led Tristan to wash
their hands.
