A heavy, oppressive shadow fell over Shaun.
"Have you forgotten what I told you before I left? Is this how you take care of Melody for me?" questioned Lucas from a position of superiority.
Shaun lowered his head, feeling immense pressure. Indeed, Lucas instructed him to take good care of Melody with an emphasis on her safety before going abroad. Any issues that arose were to be dealt with upon Lucas' return.
However, Shaun himself had not expected the string of incidents that occurred the moment Lucas boarded the plane. He found himself overwhelmed, wanting to protect Melody but unable to prevent these unexpected events.
"Mister Lucas, I apologize sincerely. But she did rehearse many times before shooting the underwater scene, and... She insisted on doing it..."
"You know she can be quite stubborn sometimes. She'll never use a stunt double if she thinks she can handle the scene herself. You should've ordered her to use a stunt double! Don't you know she can't swim?"
Shaun fell silent under Lucas' pressure.
In the end, it was the producer who came to his defense, despite the immense pressure he was also feeling.
"Mister Lucas, you know how Melody can be as well. Even if Shaun had chosen to use a stunt double, she would've fought to try it herself. That was why she went through all the rehearsals. She was determined to do the scene herself! We couldn't stop her at all...given how willful she was being."
"Couldn't stop her? Is that how you all plan to absolve yourselves from the responsibility? So it has nothing to do with you two that Melody ended up in the state she is in now?"
The hospital corridor fell into a hushed silence since both Shaun and the producer did not know how to respond.
Just then, the light in the emergency room went out, and a doctor walked out.
Lucas swiftly turned around and walked over.
"Are you the patient's family? The patient is awake."
Before Shaun could thank the heavens, he hurriedly walked up to the doctor.
"How is she now? Is she out of critical condition?" Lucas struggled to keep his emotions steady, but his cold, firm tone betrayed his angst.
"Miss Melody is out of immediate danger. The rescue took longer because we were clearing the water she accidentally inhaled. Why did you allow her to go into the water if she can't swim? What happened exactly? If necessary, the family members should look into the matter."
"She's an actress, and there was a scene where she had to portray drowning. She worked hard to overcome her fear and insisted on going into the water," explained the producer.
The doctor gave a nod of understanding. "However, it's best that she does things within her capabilities in the future. For someone who's already afraid of water, this incident might make Miss Melody even more fearful of it. It's probably worth considering taking an alternative route for the scene.

"Shaun, come back next time if you have anything else to say. For now, only
Melody's family is allowed here. The rest of you, leave."
Beatrice's intention to see them off was crystal clear. Shaun and the producer
had no choice but to make a tactful exit.
Back at the film set, they were greeted with another mess, and they were already
exhausted.
Sigh!
