Lucas did not care much as long as Thalia did not bother him working. He continued to focus on his work.
Beatrice saw Thalia hastily coming downstairs as soon as she went out, holding a glass in her hand. Beatrice did not understand why Thalia would suddenly run upstairs when her room was on the first floor. Having a gut feeling something was off, Beatrice followed Thalia to the kitchen.
After Thalia reached the kitchen, she vigorously washed the glass.
'Why would she wash the glass when it's normally left for the servants?' Beatrice was puzzled, so she called out to Thalia at the kitchen door.
Thalia was startled and quickly placed the glass in the sink. She turned around to face Beatrice standing at the door, unsure if she had seen what she was doing just now.
"G-Grandma? Weren't you resting in your room? Why are you here? Do you want some water? Shall I pour you a glass?" She offered to pour water while staying put as if concealing something. Beatrice looked at her for a moment before smiling. "I'm not thirsty. I just came out for a little walk. But why are you in the kitchen at this hour? Are you hungry? Shall I have someone make you something to eat?"
Thalia quickly glanced behind at the sink and relaxed only after realizing that the glass was out of the old woman's sight.
She chuckled awkwardly. "Grandma, don't laugh at me. I know I ate quite a bit during dinner, but for some reason, I'm hungry again. There's no need to wake the cook up. I can make something quick like instant noodles. Are you hungry? If you are, I can make some for you too."
Beatrice knew that if she continued to stay, Thalia would definitely not reveal her true intentions. She had to return to her room first if she wanted to know what she was up to.
With that thought in mind, she shook her head and declined Thalia's offer. "If you're really hungry, I'll ask the cook to prepare something for you. But if you insist on making noodles yourself, go ahead. Just be careful you don't burn anything. I'm feeling a bit tired, so I'll head to bed."
Thalia breathed a sigh of relief. She took a few steps forward. "Alright. Good night then, Grandma."
Without even looking back, Beatrice walked back to her room. After she closed the door, Thalia breathed a sigh of relief and went back to the sink to wash the glass until it was spotless. When she placed the glass in the glassboard and mixed in with the others, she revealed a triumphant smile.
