"Young Master Grant, you're my fan?" Bella's long lashes fluttered in surprise.
Oh my. This was certainly unexpected.
Even more surprising was his mention of meeting Bella "even further back", which made Bella suspicious. Although her identity
as "Alexa" had only been revealed recently, she had kept it well hidden for years. However, Grant's words implied that he had
known that she was Alexa even before the reveal.
"I've heard a lot about your achievements. You always seemed so familiar to me, like someone I knew well. You never felt like a
stranger to me," Grant said earnestly, his gaze clear and sincere. "Haha... It seems like my granddaughter-in-law is really
famous!"
Nigel beamed with joy. He held Bella's hand with his left and Justin's with his right, placing their hands together in front of Grant.
"Justin, you must cherish Anna. Look how renowned and brilliant she is! She's a great blessing to the Salvador family!"
Bella lightly bit her rosy lips, a shy blush spreading across her cheeks.
Justin intertwined his fingers with hers, their hands tightly clasped together. "Rest assured, Grandpa. I may be Bella's man, but
she's my entire world."
Meanwhile, the video call ended.
Grant sat in an all-black wheelchair. His cold, pale face hid in the dim light, half in shadow and half under the light. The eerie and
unpredictable lighting seemed to split his soul in two.
His arms were resting on the armrest of his wheelchair, his wrists appearing weak under the exquisitely raised sapphire cuffs.
His long, slender fingers lightly tapped on the armrest, as if playing a silent piano piece.
"Sir, it's time for you to take your medication."
Clarice gracefully approached him, carrying a tray with various pills and a Baroque crystal glass.
Grant glanced sideways at the medications, his pale, cold lips curling slightly. "I take so many of these every day. It's like my
meals are just medicine. I wonder if my blood is now bitter and poisonous."
Clarice's glance carried a hint of pity. "Sir, you've been through so much. You've endured so many hardships."
"You've suffered, too," Grant said, elegantly picking up a pill.
Clarice shook her head repeatedly. "What I've gone through is nothing compared to you."
"If it weren't for my moment of misstep back then, my brother would've been the one in this wretched state instead of me."
Grant popped a pill into his mouth, chewing it like candy. "If Justin were the one suffering like this, Clarice, you would've felt sorry
for him, wouldn't you?"
Clarice knelt on one knee at Grant's feet, cradling his cold hands like a treasure. "Don't worry, Sir. Even if the whole world turns
against you, I'll never betray you. At this point, my feelings for Justin are nothing but hatred. I hate him as much as I hate Bella!"
Grant lowered his long lashes, gazing at her.
He had trained Clarice thoroughly, inside and out, to be outstanding.
However, as he recalled Bella's captivating face from the video call, the woman before him, no matter how dazzling, seemed dim
in comparison.
It seemed that his brother had always been a bit luckier than him.
"Earlier, I overheard your conversation with Old Master Nigel. How can he be so unfair? Favoring one of his grandsons over
another!"
Clarice's eyes carried a tinge of resentment. In terms of rank, you're the eldest grandson of the Salvador family. You're the
rightful heir. Justin is nothing more than an illegitimate child who doesn't deserve to be in the spotlight."
