The Divorced Heiress’s Revenge

lan also wanted to marry Justin. Even simply being a maid in his house would be fine.
Bella coughed and replied, "You don't have to do that."
She spoke gently, with a touch of humility. "I'm not with you just so you can be my human shield, even though you've done that
before. You're also a human. I don't want to see you risking your life for me. It would break my heart."
Justin felt his heart race uncontrollably, his smile widening. Even if she asked him to die right away, it would be worth it.
"Bella, I've finished all the food you sent," Justin said, turning away. His throat was dry, and his breath suddenly turned erratic.
"Can I have an extra snack tonight?"
The chaos within the Iverson Group was in utter turmoil. The government of Terranova was furious and had officially filed a
lawsuit, arresting all responsible parties involved in the demolition. They demanded exorbitant compensation from the Iverson
Group. Knowing it was one of the four major families, they demanded a staggering $30 billion!
In their eyes, a few lives were worth nothing compared to the century-old heritage building that James had destroyed. Every
brick and tile of the century-old heritage buildings became bargaining chips for the Terranova officials, who shamelessly made
their demands.
The officials were convinced that the Iverson Group would agree to any conditions they imposed to salvage their reputation. This
project had already spent $20 billion on land acquisition and development. Now with an additional demand for $30 billion in
compensation, regardless of whether Iverson Group could afford it, they would become a laughingstock in the national business
community.
All of this was thanks to James' incompetence. He had ruined everything!
An emergency board meeting was held at the Iverson Group in the afternoon, during which Lance erupted with anger and
decided to suspend James from his role as CEO. Suspending James from his duties was considered a lenient punishment.
Logically, it made more sense for James, the one who started it all to go to jail for what he did. After the board of directors left,
the Iverson father and son got into a heated argument in the meeting room.
In a fit of rage, Lance picked up the ashtray and smashed it on James' head, which bled profusely.

Grimacing in pain, James used his tie to cover the bleeding wound on his forehead as he walked out of the meeting room like a
beaten dog. Just then, Christopher happened to be at the door.
"James, it looks like you're seriously injured. Do you want me to call an ambulance for you?" Christopher looked at him with a
smile.
At this moment, Christopher's bright smile irritated the miserable James.
"Christopher! You bastard!" James viciously pounced forward, grabbing onto his white collar with his bloodstained hands. "Do
you think that by getting rid of me, Dad will let you take my place? You're dreaming!"
Christopher replied calmly, "Who's the one dreaming? I think we'll have an answer soon."
He pushed his glasses up with his slender fingers, a hint of menacez flashing in his dark eyes. "James, do you remember what I
told you fifteen years ago, before my mother and I left the Iverson family?"
James' expression went blank, and his pupils suddenly narrowed.
"I said, someday I'll come back, and when I do, I will take back everything I lost to you, bit by bit," Christopher continued, his lips
curling into a chilling smile.
"Don't panic, James. The game has just begun."
