“Phew…”
Silverbell breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Frank’s nod, and her fingers
eased around her sword’s hilt.
“Lady Silverbell, that man…”
“He’s my brother,” she said and did not elaborate further.
“Brother, huh… And his last name is Lawrence… I think I understand,” one of the elders beside Silverbell murmured thoughtfully.
Silverbell glanced at him but stayed silent.
Bang!
Frank kicked the door to the Turnbull Hall open, and everyone standing inside was clearly disapproving.
Some were even ready to yell at him, but Glen Turnbull quickly gave everyone a warning glare even though he was startled too.
This incident was so grave that the family’s fate hung in the balance-it was not the time for manners.
Walking up to Frank with a nod, Glen said, “We meet again, Mr. Lawrence. I’m sure my sister-in-law filled you in?”
“Yeah.” Frank nodded. “Where’s Mr. Walter? I’ll check on him now.”
“Sure.” Glen did not dawdle, leading Frank out of the hall and straight to a dome car, taking Frank to one of the bungalows within Turnbull Estate. “Walter’s in there.”
“Frank Lawrence?”
Susan hurried downstairs when she heard them, and her eyes lit up when she saw Frank despite her usual disapproving attitude toward him.
Her eyes were red, and she was choking with tears. “Walter’s been unconscious ever since he came back and the doctors can’t do a thing…”
“Let me see him,” Frank said, quickly striding in the bedroom.
Inside, Walter was laying in bed, his fingers stiff and his lips purple.
Frank could see right away that he had been poisoned, but he still had to examine Walter to know what poison it was.
Sitting beside Walter, he lifted an eyelid and saw many black spots.
He was shocked-this was the sign of a nerve agent.
Then, as he felt Walter’s pulse, he noticed that despite a steady rhythm, there were brief hints of spasming.
It was indeed poison-one that could confound the senses and acted very subtly.
Not only did it cause hallucinations, but it was also lethal in a way as it would spur a person into doing what they usually would not.
While Walter would regain consciousness on his own in a couple of days, time was of the essence.
Blue pure vigor swirled around
Frank’s finger, and he tapped several acupoints before jamming a thumb on Walter’s chest. Directing his pure vigor with Walter’s own vigor, he cleared away the clots in Walter’s
